No. I hope they will repave it, it's quite awful for such an important tourist road.

Only a small part near Jesenice is very bad IMO. The road seems to be quite old though. At least there's a brand new bike path next to it, and also some new bus stops have been built

Italian part is not good too (narrow, curvy) especially very narrow streets in Tarvisio.

New bypass of Gozd Martuljek is planned in the future though. Probably far future ...

What about the Slovenian section of Trieste - Rijeka? Will that section ever be completed?

1. Ljubljana - Zagreb -- there are a bit less than 15 km missing (completed in 2010)
2. Maribor - CRO border (Ptuj/Draženci-Gruškovje) -- there are some 14 km missing (completed around 2013)
3. Slovenian section Trieste - Rijeka (Trst - Reka) -- probably never, because these two ports are competition to the port of Koper; and this road has no significance for Slovenia whatsoever

Trieste - Rijeka is an important link that should be completed, perhaps when Croatia joins the EU Slovenia will have more pressure to complete it. Plus Slovenia can charge some crazy amount for that section.

With AADT of what, 5000? If they need it so badly, they're free to finance it and be the concessionaire. We've had this debate too many times.

They're gonna build it when Croatia - Italy traffic is clogging all towns along the route.

In May, there were still roadworks over here.

The roadworks that were in place in August, were only 2km long, near those short tunnels. I think they will be rounded up next year.
