Skyscrapers of the 2000's

It's a few weeks until the first decade of the 21st century ends so lets pay a tribute to those towers that were built over the decade.

I'll start with some obvious examples to get the ball rolling from the Gold Coast. I dont have exact dates for some though.

Gold Coast

Circle on Cavill Towers - 2006

Chevron Towers

Q1 - 2005, Worlds Tallest Residential Tower

The Wave - 2006

Ocean Pacific, Broadbeach - 2008

Aria, Broadbeach

Meriton Broadbeach - 2009

Sierra Grand, Broadbeach - 2008

I'm pretty sure that the first of the Chevron towers was build in '02 and the other two built in '04.

More buildings:-

Southport Central : 3 towers built in 2006, 2007, 2009.
I love these buildings, they are funky and have some crazy colours.

Wow! Some great photos so far. Are they all yours Fabian? Cause they're fantastic, I think I almost orgasmed when I saw those pics of CoC. And cheers for finding those pics of Southport Central DMT - they look hot!

According to Emporis there have been a total of 615 highrise buildings (35m+) completed in Australia so far this decade, or a total of 122 "skyscrapers" (90m+) Heres a breakdown of major cities:

Sydney - 160 highrises - 19 skysrapers
Melbourne - 115 highrises - 48 skyscrapers
Gold Coast - 75 highrises - 27 skyscrapers
Brisbane - 56 highrises - 20 skyscrapers
Perth - 36 highrises - 2 skyscrapers
Darwin - 20 highrises - 2 skyscrapers
Adelaide - 17 highrises - 1 skyscraper

LOL Perth has done terribly. Though I don't mind, the 2 we got were hot, and then of course there is whats to come....

This decade (towards the end) has seen a lot of changes to Perth on the street level, its fantastic.

sydneys had some amazing skyscrapers built post 2000.
Angel place,Aurora place, cove, masonic tower, world tower, eandy, Duetchsbank, meriton tower, Regent place, aspect.and currently nearing completion-the hyde and 420george.

Im realllly happy with all these skkyscrapers. All designs are results of architectural competitions, which i think other cities are starting to follow, because the result in the best design for the chosen site.
