Cool

Well stone the crows, that looks outstanding! I must say, I'm absolutely chuffed to bits that we are now seeing skyscrapers of such height being proposed in the U.K. outside of London. This is a tower that would do London proud & I sure hope this wins speedy approval and is built!!! Nice name too! Well done Birrmingham!!

Birmingham has had several tall towers proposed in the past but only one was ever completed.

Go Brum.... what happened to the rather severe height restrictions that were in place when I was living in the midlands a few years back?!

This tower has come just at the right time, i.e. at the end of a recession .... unlike other tower proposals around the UK, including Manchestoh!

This tower is great news for Birmingham, and hopefully will kickstart the other proposals that are on hold.
you have lost me?

why would i be gutted?

Something to do with the fact this isn't on the ridge that part of the city centre is located on.

The height restriction seems to have been replaced with a more take each case on its merits approach.

This is firmly on the ridge though jayo.

I really hope this goes up, really do, but I'll only believe it when I see tower cranes and a topped out tower and when UK pessimism/red tape dies. We have been let down before, Arena Central/V Building all over again?

Looks like this is really pushing ahead - detailed planning application has been posted on the Birmingham City Council website - appears to have been renamed Left Bank Tower and final height is 200.5m - also some great new renders, really high quality, looks fantastic!

The architectural style blends in perfectly with its neighbours at ground level, but soars to the sky with a style all its own. Hope it get approved

This is such an amazing project for Birmingham, and considering britain is basically screwed in the economy sector this is really good news.

I really really really want this to get approval and construction to begin.

It looks absolutely stunning! Birmingham's skyline needs this tower!! I love the cladding too, subtle colour changes all the way up and different panels (I can hear all the UK forumers carpin on about "random cladding" already) I really hope this gets the go ahead!

Don't get me wrong, I think Birmingham probably has the best tower skyline outside of London in the UK but Birmingham really does need a 200m tower to give its rather flat skyline a pinnacle.

I don't think there is anyone who would disagree with you there. We have been waiting for around 10 years for a proposal of this scale to really break the plateauing heights of the buildings on our skyline. However, as time goes on, and if current proposals are also built, we'll end up having to look towards a 300m tower to create a pinnacle!

^ I say it is possible, considering our city has so much potential and the fact the council seem to love 'em tall, or so I would believe anyway! And the fact is we have few heritage sites but placing them in the right spectrum of the city is essential, too bad we're hit by the downturn or Snowhill and the many other towers would have been underway by now!
