Milwaukee and its wonderful lakefront photographs! Skyline shots included!

Some biking paths that run along the lakefront and have ramps to the neighborhoods of the dense Eastside.

Nice Pics! Those East side neighborhoods are looking very good. Its got that "northern" feel - a little like Minneapolis. (Probably could have lived without seeing all of the grafitti though.

Nice pics thanks for sharing. What's up with all the graffiti by the lakefront, seems more excessive than usual.

This is Milwaukee's "skyline" it is the view of a Great Lakes' city.
Unfortunately, it is a view of Milwaukee that the majority of people in other
American cities would not associate with this "Midwestern" town.

thanks guys! I always found the graffiti on the breakwater to be interesting. Sure alot of it is useless tags, but some of it can be amusing. As for the reasoning behind it, its just a prime spot to spray. Its an isolated path that juts into the lake. The only authority figures to stop you is the occasional police boat/Coast Guard.

Yeah, this is the best view of the skyline. Its not very tall, but it stretches along the lake and can be somewhat impressive. I bet a photo like that would suprise many people in this country who aren't as familiar with geography and cities.

^thanks!

Yeah, the Breakwater has been growing on me as well. It looks great because of the density it adds to the skyline. I love how it dominates the view going South on Farwell.

Almost a Baltimore configuration to Milwaukee's skyline. And it's probably the most active outside of Chicago

Thanks for sharing your photos! I really like the one in particular with the sign of graffiti, i have always found taggging to be somewhat artistic and exciting...not to say i want it on everything but so what if its on a fishing pier or concrete? It adds to the character!

I will presume you wouldn't want to see it on anything you really cared about, any more than you would want a stranger invading your home an scribbling whatever THEY wanted to on YOUR walls.

I think it's a form of visual predation, no more, no less.

I've always thought that about our skyline too, reminds me of Baltimore. That, and Portland, minus the mountains.

Great pictures, Mariachi!

Love that first pic.

I think part of the reason that a lot of people think (myself included) that Milwaukee is lacking in the skyline department is because they come at it from either the South or the West. There's so much development north of downtown along the lakefront-- and it always surprises me how much of it is high-rise residential. It's one of those skylines that is sort of tough to catch in a single frame because it doesn't cluster within a single highway-loop like Minneapolis, but rather stretches in almost a single-file line up the lakefront....

either way, lovely pics of a lovely town!

Basically Graffiti is and always will be an Urban aspect to life in cities. Europe is the absolute worst with Graffiti its on everything which is sad. Milwaukee looks like some child took a crayola pencil and drew a couple things compared to those cites.

Do i want it on the Milwaukee Art musuem? No of course not, and these pictures that have graffiti are on a concrete dock...so what if someone wants to spraypaint and put a little color on that boring old thing or an back alley in the city where garbage cans sit. Your example is a little extreme i believe, im not talking about tagging someones home or storefront, yes thats not right.

This is Prospect Ave between Kane and Lafayette.

This is directly across the street from my house. I live in the attic on the front of the house, so my bedroom window looks at the rooflines on these houses with the skyscrapers on Prospect behind.

Thanks for the tour.
