A new pool and fitness centre has been announced for Wakefield City Centre. It sounds as though it will be on the site of the old Sun Lane pool which closed a few years back. The facility will include.

an eight-lane 25-metre pool;

a smaller learner pool;

a 130-station fitness suite;

a multi-use activity studio;

a health suite with spa bath, steam room and sauna;

200 capacity spectator viewing area and public cafe.

I've lived in Wakefield since 1998 and I only found out there was a swimming pool at Sun Lane when they announced they were going to close it.

Presumably the pool at Lightwaves isn't considered adequate for "proper" swimming?
