National Express lose East Anglia Franchise

Lord Ardonis has confirmed that Nat Ex will be stripped of their East Anglia franchise from March 2011.

SO in the space of the year C2C, ICEC and East Anglia will all come up......busy times!!!

Not to mention them losing the Midland Mainline contract back in 2007(?) when Stagecoach won it - now operating as East Midlands Trains.

This is misleading, and very poor reporting. The East Anglia franchise was already set to expire in March 2011. There is an option to extend the franchise at the discretion of the government, but this is the case for most franchises. Adonis has merely informed National Express that franchise extension isn't going to happen.

This isn't "stripping" a damned thing; I doubt National Express were expecting Lord Adonis to be nice to them after they handed back the keys to their East Coast franchise.

It is a way of punishing them without extra cost to the taxpayer of ending the franchise early.

Excellant news for the taxpayers that our goverment has got some balls from somewhere

Bad news for NationalExpress who lose a very lucrative profit-making line, considering they dropped the other line because they became profit-mad-capitalists wanting no responsibility, seems almost like poetic justice but actually just fair and sensible (hence I'm suprised)
