Some of those look fantastic. Unfortunately, there is a little bit too much obsession in the Gulf region with building concrete and glass high rises that have a relatively short life span. It would be good to see complete towns or villages dedicated to preserving this traditional local architecture.

Speaking of high rises, the Arabian Peninsula of course has some of the world's oldest, about 6,000 mud multi-story houses built before the 11th century make the Yemeni capital Sana'a a UNESCO world heritage site.
