I agree with SilentStrike, they should build it in the new CBD better. On the other hand, since Jiefangbei is actually becoming world's busiest district it should look stunning there too, we only have to wait and see. By the way, who knows what other weird towers will JFB get in the coming years. Can you imagine Chongqing by 2050?

Ive never seen anything like this before there are alot of tall buildings in this world but nothing like this. It might be the next step into 21st century architecture and the future I really hope this will get approved.

Exactly. Most of Chongquing's designs are relativly simple, and there is nothing like this. This really sticks out and is quite amazing.

MAD has added the project to its online portfolio. No new images though

If the first design was built right in the middle of downtown, it would look out of place, but from the first picture is looks like it's near the riverside on the edge of the cluster, which isn't so bad. Besides, if everyone always built stuff that looked like the surrounding buildings, nothing new would ever get built. The neighbourhood can always adapt to this one in the future. It's a really unique and interesting design that I hope gets built.

It is what I call manipulation - after mad first and mediocre second design, most of people will choose third variant
Chineese people were brave enough to choose first

They changed the design??
398m, 90 floors. Seems that they switched to MAD's second proposal. http://www.cqyz.gov.cn/web/sub/mod/4...328&siteid=140 ![]()

That really has ruined my day, a 'South-Korean supertall vaporware' effect. God awful bland box desisgn. Was the wacky design too hard to realise?

Well, a bland render doesn't mean a bland project. We should better wait for better images. Besides, it's likely to be a preliminary design. Remember, Chongqing loves revisions.

I like the new design, it's far from terrible. The original was fantastic though, IMO.

Another version? Sorry they didn't post the source, as usual.
