Downfallen will never live to see the Heron Tower's birth since he died. And I'm already mourning another loss, that of actress Brittany Murphy, who passed two days ago. Usually when I post in this forum, I mourn the loss of tall buildings, but I've never lost a member of SSC before. If a user (legitimately) dies, his account should be marked as retired.

RIP.

I made this thread in the Australian Skybar in his honour,
Not sure how many people knew him over her though but I'm sure theyll love his photos.

You were a really talented artist/photographer Downfallen who pushed the limits for your art and life, like all the best artists do. Your updates were always an event - many thanks for sharing your vision wherever you are now. Condolences and thoughts go out to your loved ones.

Very sad news. Took some truly stunning photographs and I was having beers with him and others from here only a couple of weeks ago. I feel for his family and friends, especially at this time of year which is very centred around togetherness. You'll be missed mate, R.I.P

Just got back from work and have seen the terrible news.
I didnt know Downfallen as a person but again as many others have stated, i drew inspiration from his incredible photography and his way of living such an exciting life.
My thoughts are with all those who new him and most of all his family.
His name will live on.
What an incredible person.

That is such tragic news, I cannot believe it. He was a great talent, bold and adventurous. I am so so sorry to hear this news. I really am lost for words. His photographs were quite simply brilliant and clearly a great guy.

If his family ever read this thread I hope you can take comfort in knowing he made a positive impact on a huge number of people, even those of us who barely knew him. Me and my mates were only discussing his pics in the pub the other night and admiring his sense of adventure.

R.I.P. Downfallen. You will be sorely missed.

I am so sad at the moment. I have spent the last two hours admiring Downfallen's photos (thanks for the links SE9). Downfallen's posts were always gems amoungst lots of dross which you find on forums. I am fascinated with urban development and love photography, and so enjoy SSC. I've discovered today I'm the same age as Downfallen, and always admired his daring and adventourous spirit, my life feels so dull in comparison! If ever anyone deserved an obituary than surely this pioneering fearless gentleman is the one. I'd be fascinated to read more about Downfallen - I will always remember him through his photos. I hope those close to him could keep his story alive through a website dedicated to his memory.

For now, I'm going to have another drink, and read more of his amazing life, I never knew about the base jumping, and I'm sure there are many more adventures documented online.

Downfallen...thank you for enriching our lives with you unique point of view....Amen...RIP

Stunned like everyone else.

He was only on here in the Heron thread a few weeks ago.

I remember when he started posting here, the photos of PP going up and the Ontario Tower u/c, he really brought us an angle no one else dared to post/capture.

His memory will live on with some of the truly amazing photos he provided us with.

I suppose it's true to say that it is better to live you life on the edge that live a life of mediocrity and Downfallen certainly did that.

Watch London from the stars Darren. You provided us with such indelible images of our city.
