Great mosque of Córdoba | Spain
One of the most important mosques in the world, was built by the umayad dinasty since the 8th century and was expanded several times, last in the year 990. In the 16th century a part of the mosque was reformed to host the cathedral.

i'm not sure if we really need to rate this one. it'd be like submitting the taj mahal or hagia sofia, or the sagrada familia to the equivalent of a reality show popularity contest.
m.c. escher was greatly influenced by moorish architecture, and that was reflected in his works. i can never get tired of these pictures, as they represent the best in architecture. repetition, geometry, structure, etc. |
