Are they initially sketchup models dropped into a render program?

Yep, I have exporter in Sketchup for Kerkythea...So I render everything with Kerkythea...

really? I had that at one point but found it really hard to use, any tips?

Well, it's not hard...You just have to work in it and discover things...You can find a lot of tutorials on the internet...And you have a Thread somewhere here in this section that will help you...Try to find it...Its somewhere on 3rd, 4th or 5th page i think...

PS: That white areas in the renders, are caused because of the lack of settings. If you render with Kerkythea, try the Path tracing progressive.

The "white marks" are really balconies with
really bright lights on...lol

Also the Sirens Oasis Hotel sure reminds me of
the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
