Can anyone explain to me what the Assyrians really are, about them and where they live.
Also who are Kurdish people and why Assyrians and Arabs don't get along to good.

Hi AsianDragons.

This thread is to introduce forumers to one another. So maybe this a abit off topic.

Here is a link for you if you wish to learn more about the Assyrian community:

Hi,

Kurdish people are 20% of iraqs population, mostly living in the north..
Kurdish is an indo-european language and kurds are iranic people not to be confused with persians.. kurds have been fighting long and hard for self rule, and suffered great deal of opression under saddam rule - greater kurdistan claimed by kurds to be their home land is split between iraq, turkey, syria and iran.. currently there is an autonomous region in iraq, called kurdistan.. kurds have their own goverment/army.. if you'd like to know more please wishper me.

Assyrians are another ethnic group in iraq, they claim to be decendants of the ancient assyrian empire, however there are alot of people/profesors argueeing that they have no actual links with the ancient assyrians.. and no DNA test has been conducted on them, they are majority christian.

I think its wrong to say assyrians and arabs don't get along, its more to do with nationalists and religious extremisits, I doubt the averga arab has problems with assyrians, another thing is since 2003 assyrians have been subject to violence in south/western iraq, this made many of them flee to the safe kurdistan (north iraq) or outside iraq. if you'd like to know more whisper me.

hi everyone,
My name is Ali and i am 15 years old. I was born in the Netherlands and i'm still living here in a small village. My dad fled away from Iraq because of politic reasons in the 80's. I've never been in Iraq.
Every day i'm looking forward to see new pic's or news or threads about the rebuilding of Iraq. Ecspecially about Baghdad . So i am glad that i've found this site.

Greetz from the Netherlands..

Just registered because of the new Iraq forum. I think the presence of a new forum attracts more users, instead of waiting for them.

Anyway, I'm from the tripoint up in the northeast corner, been through a lot of places in the Kurdistan region. And have a lot of photos. Age is 19 and going to graduate high school very soon hopefully.

TBH that is too why i joined, this forum may not be as active as the others but i only log on from time to time to keep up to date with reconstruction efforts. Also, i hope to see many of the proposed projects in progress.

I guess its never too late to introduce myself as i have not done so in this thread, i am a 21 yr old student hoping to contribute in rebuilding Iraq in the near future.

My greetings to you. We have to make the forum more active, keep out political differences and show the beauty of our indigenous lands.

Hi Guys,
I’m 31, Electrical Engineer, born in Baghdad, and live & work in Erbil.
I’m working with Schneider Electric (a French international company specialist in Electrical/Energy sector)
We’ve done lots of projects in Iraq and many new projects in Kurdistan.

I found many useful info in this great forum.
Hope that we can share info/ideas that can help in rebuilding our country.

Salam to all.

Thanks for you kind welcome
In fact, part of my job with Schneider Electric is to follow projects in Kurdistan.
So, I'm trying to follow all the projects.
If anyone needs any info, it will be my pleasure to support.
