The tops seem to slope in a curved, semicircle shape! Also, I'll bet that the 1,005 foot figure is for the highest occupied floor. It looks like there's some sort of windturbine on the top which appears to be at least 150 feet tall. This could top out at around 1,200 feet.

For the love of god please do not start this debate. A member of CTBUH saw the BLUEPRINTS at the site a month ago. 1,005 feet high is the height. They filed 953 ft with the Dept of Bldgs. That's the highest occupied floor.

It just looks like a ( badly styled ) screen for several levels of outdoor terrace. Regardless, I think we should go with the 1005' figure until the tower is finished, or we learn different.

We'll see about the height. Amazingly, in the worst recession since WWII when other US cities have cancelled projects, NY has several supertalls in the works and under construction, including this masterpiece!

Personally, I agree that since the DOB only requires that 'highest occupied floor' number it may well be higher, maybe even the full 1,080'. The Beekman could give us a good clue how that may factor in...

Now see, if the developer hadn't gone around bragging about how amazing the design was and keeping it under wraps until three weeks before construction began, everyone would be head over heels for it.

My comment was based, in part, from the fact that this looks signficantly taller than the Hamshire House and Essex House which are on the next block to the north.

the second render isn't nice at all. The base giving you the idea, they're going for a classic design but they didn't. It pretty sad they should building it then cover it with a black net.

This can't be the design. It just can't be ;0

I mean, how could CdP design such a building?

All of the roofs and setbacks are curved, as confirmed by the person who saw the plans.

now that i see the rendering more closely, i see that they are doing that trendy,randomly-placed, ugly disorganized glass facade look? Now i really don't like that.

I love it. New York based style (boxy, so that it uses in the most efficient way all the space available, given how expensive it is to buy property/air rights/...).
Just hope the glass facade is good, but i trust the architect, given the previous buildings he has done.

As for all the bashing, no surprise. Complaining about someone else's work is almost everybody's favorite sport. Pathetic.
