Island of Ambergris Caye

IT´S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I PROMISED SOME MORE INFO ON AMBERGRIS CAYE - BELIZE´S TOP TOURIST DESTINATION. SOME PEOPLE DESCRIBE AC AS TYPICALLY CARIBBEAN, BUT THIS CHARMING LITTLE TOWN IS EVERYTHING BUT TYPICAL. ILL TRY TO KEEP WORDS TO A MINIMUM, HOPE YOU ENJOY THE PICS.

AMBERGRIS CAYE (25 MILES LONG AND APPROX. 1.5 MILES AT ITS WIDEST IS THE LARGEST OF BELIZE´S CAYES. DUE TO ITS PROXIMITY TO THE REEF, THE BEACHES OF AMBERGRIS CAYE ARE RATHER NARROW AS THE ISLAND ITSELF. IT IS REFERRED TO AS CAYE, (AS OPPOSED TO ISLAND) BECAUSE IT IS FLAT AND LOW LYING. AMBERGRIS CAYE IS SEPARATED FROM MEXICAN TERRITORY BY A VERY NARROW CHANNEL AT THE EXTREME NORTH OF THE ISLAND. THE CURRENT POPULATION COUNT IS AROUND 20,000. THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE LIVE IN SAN PEDRO TOWN, (TOWN CORE). HOWEVER, DUE TO ITS CONTINUED GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT IS MOVING RAPIDLY TO THE NORTHERN PART OF THE ISLAND, WHICH IS ONLY ACCESIBLE BY BOAT. THIS IN ITSELF HAS GIVEN WAY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF NORTHERN AMBERGRIS AS A VERY DESIRABLE AND EXCLUSIVE RESORT AREA. PRIVATE ISLAND RESORTS ON THE LAGOON SIDE(WEST) OF AMBERGRIS CAYE ARE THE TREND. (I´LL DO ANOTHER POST ON THESE)

DOWNTOWN SAN PEDRO, AMBERGRIS CAYE

POPULAR RESTAURANT

SAN PEDRO BEACH AREA
(THE BEACHES ARE LINED WITH PIERS AND DIVE SHOPS AS YOU CAN SEE.)

SOME BEACH RESORTS CLOSE TO TOWN:

BEACH SHOTS: (HAD TO ADD THESE COOL PALM TREES LEANING TOWARDS THE SEA)

Smile

(AHORA EN ESPAÑOL) AQUI LES DEJO ALGUNAS IMAGENES DE UN RECORRIDO QUE HICE A LA PARTE NORTE DE LA ISLA. ESTA AREA ES MAS REMOTA YA QUE EL ACCESO ES UNICAMENTE POR VIA MARITIMA. ESTA PARTE ES MI FAVORITA DE LA ISLA YA QUE CUENTA CON PLAYAS MUY ENCANTADORAS Y MUY EXOTICAS AL IGUAL Q RESORTS DE LUJO Y RESIDENCIAS DE VACACIONES.

LAS TERRAZAS RESORT & RESIDENCES

GRAND CARIBE

BELIZE LEGACY RESORT

TRANQUILITY BAY

MATACHICA / AZUL

AL EXTREMO NORTE DE LA ISLA:

BUENAVISTA

ROCKY POINT

ROBLES

VISTAS AERIAS DE LA PARTE NORTE DE LA ISLA (ROCKY POINT) ES IMPRESIONANTE VER LOS TONOS DE AZUL AL SOBREVOLARLA EN AVION

Y FINALMENTE, PARA LOS Q CONOCEN POCO DE MI HERMOSO PAIS, ALGO DE SU GASTRONOMIA , CUANDO VENGAN A VISITAR, NO PUEDEN IRSE SIN PROBAR ESTO (UUY YA ME DIO HAMBRE JEJE ):

FRY JACKS (PARA EL DESAYUNO)

MEAT PIES (HOT N SPICY)

RICE AND BEANS (PLATILLO TIPICO DE BELICE)

Thank you for the pictures of the north part of Ambergis Caye. I only knew San Pedro, an unforgetable place. With the pictures of the food I am already craving for belizean food, I will go to one located in Los Angeles CA.
