Phase I of the townhomes are almost all complete and I think Phase II is in progress while they are currently selling Phase III. They are keeping two century old buildings for future office use and the lofts are new to the market. The buildings have nice structure but will take quite some work to turn them into attractive looking loft buildings.I think you're talking about the former American Standard factory loft conversions a bit down @ Dupont/Lansdowne. Neither buildings are quite that nice and the newer south building is sloppily done with uneven windows and crappy stucco precast and there's even a Dollerama at the base. The new Chelsea lofts building @ the SE corner is quite nicely done but lacks street presence. All these re-development projects are nice but unfortunately they are being built in not-so-good neighbourhoods with two train tracks going through it. |

Ah, I didnt realize there were 3 phases to the project, no wonder its been under construction since 2003...I dont even know where to begin with what I dislike about the condos on the southwest corner of Dupont/Lansdowne...the fact that anyone is allowed to build anything that awful is a travesty! Chelsea seems like a good effort, and good street presence at that intersection seems somewhat out of reach, with its lack of an engaging streetscape, and that infamous strip-mall coffee time across the street...but despite its obvious flaws, Chelsea is still the best thing that touches Lansdowne...

Davenport Village
Phase 1 of Davenport village was DUE in december 2005...They are still finishing these units right now...
Phase 2 was supposed to be done in February 2006... They are expected to be done in november 2006. this BUILDEr is AWFULLY slow, more than the usual... so if you are buying get ready to wait for a long long time..... As for the train rails, the go train passes right beside the complex so Try to buy the property that is the closest to Lansdown so the noise will be the minimum.. Unfurtunately Toronto does not have much land left... and what is left.. is exactly close to the railroads.... |

^You're kidding right??? Google satellite toronto results in tens of thousands of potential building spots--parking lots galore all the way up to steeles, run down 50s/60s/70s/80s homes north of lawrence that could be pulled for 6 storey walkups, mediocre office blocks downtown that could be converted or pulvarized into condos, empty laneways from victoria park to parklawn, 2 storey dumps along dundas, queen etc that could be jacked up with another 2-4 floors or apartments, lotsa space in tower in park developments (think cityplace.) Basically, toronto has enough space for another 10 million people--without touching the victorian semis that make toronto toronto!
Having lived beside the tracks in parkdale, i can say if you're buying a unit next to the tracks you deserve to suffer! |

Maybe you are right!!!
But who wants a CONDO?????? Not everybody wants that... Most people with families want at least a backyard for the kids... or a nice terrase where you can do BBQ..
Condos are very restrictive, Condo fees are very high for services you rarely use...and nowadays are very small too.... Either way my real point was to stress that the builder fo Davenport Village is as SLOW as a SNAIL!!!!! you better sit donw if you are waiting for you unti to be ready!!! I guess I deserve what I can AFFORD for now... |

Almost everything from downtown to the beaches -- excuse me, THE BEACH -- is an empty industrial wasteland. Try driving along Lakeshore E some time. Drive, don't walk, since there's not even a sidewalk for most of it.
Toronto could build another 500 condos and still easily have room for more. |

You are absolutely right; I’ve seen that section when coming into Toronto. My first impression of Toronto was not a good one. They really need to do something with that land and fast. |
