Reorganization of Macau Forum Suggestions
Hi everyone. I think the time has come to clean up the threads within the Macau section. I've done a similar exercise to the Hong Kong threads and I think it has made accessing and finding information a lot easier.
I notice there are many many threads of similar or same topics. Perhaps some are due to historic reasons, dating to the times when the search function was disabled on SSC. I propose consolidating these threads. For example, I'd like to create single threads for each major casino project, such as the Sands having 1 giant thread, Venetian with another, City of Dreams one more, etc. If I see other themes with multiple threads, I'll merge them and make the title shorter and easier to find. Please offer your suggestions on this plan. It seems a monumental task, and may take some time to execute. I envision a future Macau section more vibrant than ever. Hopefully I can gain your support and am more than happy to hear more feedback on what you want to see in here. hkskyline

Macau forum needs to be separate in sections. I suggest four sections, one for Pictures, one for Society/News, one for Casinos (where you can fit all the major players as you said), other new relevant buildings.

Phase 1 of Reorganization In Progress
I have started reorganizing and consolidating threads. So far, I've covered big projects such as :
No posts or threads have been deleted. Everything is still there. The whole process will take some time. Meanwhile, the "moved" marks on the threads will disappear in 1 month's time as people get used to the new setup. |

That's a big job. It was getting difficult to keep track of posts by topic. I assume you will do threads for the property developments too.
Thank you very much! |

Yes - I'm aiming to have 1 thread per property development but I notice we have a few generic property news threads so I will keep that intact. So far I've consolidated about 50 threads and will do another major batch this coming weekend.

Hello,
Do you think it is possible to create a daily news thread in portuguese and make it a sticky? There is a lot of information being created in Macau in that language and it could an active thread. Maybe one in cantonese would not be a bad idea either? Cheers!

From 2006-2011, this forum was an excellent exchange for hard-to-find and insider information (in Chinese, English, Portuguese) regarding construction and property developments in Macau. However with easier availability of info about Macau - this forum detoured into personal photo-posting, job seeking, language lessons, etc. The best and most informative Users are gone.
The original purpose of Skyscraper City forums was to post info regarding skyscrapers and other construction projects. As you can see from HK Forum the categories are: Projects & Construction Architecture & Heritage Infrastructure & Development Life in Hong Kong Macau Forums http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=353 While photos of specific projects were great, personal shots were not of interest to most users of this forum. The main Skyscraper City has a separate Forum for Photo posting. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/index.php Perhaps there is enough interest for Macau to have its own Forum with Sub-forums as above?? Not sure who would set this up. HKskyline and SeeMacau -are you still around? I miss the "good old days". We had a lot of fun and hopefully we all made some good money! |

It's really up to the forumers to post what they like and discuss what they like. In principle, there is no problem setting up and maintaining non-photo threads, but if users don't want to do that, then perhaps tastes have changed. There is never a barrier for you to create and maintain the discussions you like.
