Sepang Gold Coast, Malaysia's only Palm-shaped resort

I was thinking how come no one talks about this project. Nonetheless it is a controversial project apparently.

SEPANG GOLD COAST
Sepang Gold Coast covers 4621 acres of sea and shore estate, fronting 22km of the Straits of Malacca and 17km mangrove river. Sepang Gold Coast will be established as an international Coastal-Eco-Leisure recreational tourism destination embracing the best cultures expressed through a global village, born in Asia.

The site benefits from its high accessibility levels through a good existing network serving Bagan Lalang and Sepang and will take only 20 minutes to get to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang.

There are some very interesting features in www.sepanggc.com

And of course, the Dubaish palm tree island and the Sepang "Walk"

How can YTL copyright the name when YTL itself copied it from Universal City Walk???? Lucky enough that Universal Studio Hollywood or Jon Jerde don't sue YTL.

I m not in favour of this sepang palm design. Why malaysian loves to copycat than think out of the box. Like dubai sicks of palms island, they came out with another wonderful idea..'the world island'. In shanghai, it is even bigger and unique! Take this ongoing new harbour city project on a reclaimed land. In the centre of the new harbour city, there will be a large circular lake basin with a diameter of almost 2.5 kilometres! So, the city extends radially from this freshwater lake and concentrically into the coastal area which is link by water canals.

I suppose M'sian have big visions for the best but lack of originality & creativity....nonetheless, there is nothing wrong in adapting successful design else where and incorporate into local context.... good? or bad? I dunno....

Out of the whole development, this palm tree is the one under construction at the moment. And I heard the scaled down version of this project would only include this palm tree and few shops at the shoreline. We all can forget about the other themed attractions.

Out of all the interesting things, the developer decides to keep this lame palm tree. This project is destined to doom...
