Improper English isn't unique or cultural, nor is it anything to be proud of. Many people tell me that I should get rid of my American accent and speak like a Singaporean. This really pisses me off. If bad grammar is Singaporean etiquette, then I just found another reason why I dislike being Singaporean.

Now, anyone have any MRT pictures to post?
Now this just pisses me off. Sorry.

Just because it's not something you do, doesn't make it improper. Cultural differences doesn't make something improper. In some cultures, it's weird for two men to be hugging, but in modern times when people grow and become more open, it's alright, and yet some people still feel like its improper.

Just because its improper to you doesn't mean its not unique or cultural.

And you should tell people who tell you to get rid of your American accent to, lemme find a better word, freak off, because it has become a part of you.

So if something has become a part of you, as an individual, why should you let someone make you "get rid" of it?

In the bigger picture, its about acceptance. Of how gays and lesbians are still finding it harder to have equal rights or how whites and blacks still have a thin line between them where there shouldn't be? (NOT OPENING ANOTHER CAN OF WORMS, just using as an example)

It's about acceptance, that Singlish is there. You can't eradicate it because, as improper it is in your opinion, it has become apart of the individual. And just because you use Singlish doesn't mean you're horrid with your english. That's just silly stereotype.

Here's a picture of Eunos MRT for y'all to salivate over.

OMG, people, Orchard is turning out to be one of the best refurbished stations. I wish they replicated the non-paid decor in the paid area... sorry no pics.

I have no idea how your camera managed to capture Paya Lebar looking so bright. That's fantastic. Usually the station appears a bit more dimly lit to me.

Although our station interiors are clean and nice and functional, there should still be more architechurally designed station such as EXPO and Stadium. I came across a photo of a POD in Petaling Jaya and it is awesome.. If only we have more low rise architecurally designed buldings and stations.

Yup it is being constructed now, you can view it in our Malaysian thread. The POD is part of the new PJ City Center project...

beta MRT 1984

Run with me...into the future.

At the National Exhibition at WTC...showcasing Singapore's past and future...

MITA must have had a busy year with all the national identity plans...Stand Up for Singapore came out in 1984 too...first national day song I think.

The future...in 1984. Beta model of MRT at National Exhibition.

At the National Exhibition at WTC, showcasing Singapore's past and future. Model of MRT train at exhibition for Singaporeans to check out...It was an exciting time for Singapore...

They were building the MRT line in my old neighbourhood (Braddell) then, so seeing the MRT train for myself kinda clicked with that...I remember peering down at the construction site and seeing the samsui women with their distinctive red headcloth building the tunnel...Dad says they were such rugged folks from Say-yap in Guangdong and fashioned work sandals for themselves out of used car tyres!!!

The alternative MRT seating arrangement...

The old MRT seats were quite comfy and I liked that shade of red (and blue, and orange, and green...). As a child, the difficult part was deciding which colour block of MRT to sit in...
