Has a cheap plastic Miami feel to it.
Where's the late 1990's spring break carwash?

The only flattering picture is the lobby at night!

I like it. It has a funky, 60s-retro feel to it. Love the roof line.

By Tridelwebmaster on UT.

New photos of 70 Roehampton were taken last week:

Lobby with concierge. The wall to the right is actually a water feature.

Lobby, lounge and concierge

Lobby lounge

Party and entertaining room featuring two sided fireplace. The private dining room is on the other side.

Private dining room

Show kitchen

Swimming pool

Virtual tour photography of 70 Roehampton 2M1 is now online.

Virtual tour photography of 2 bedroom with terrace 2C1T is also online.

Republic photo gallery has been updated.

I really like the way this project has turned out. Kudos to Tridel for stepping up their game. Portends well for 300 Front.

Toronto Sun article:

North Toronto Collegiate a blueprint for the future

The first Toronto Public school involved in a public-private partnership opened its doors to the media Wednesday.

While the old North Toronto Collegiate Institute (NTCI) school building on Roehampton Ave. awaits demolition, a new chapter in the school’s history started last month when its 1,200 students were welcomed back to the new state-of-the art facilities.

“I hope that this is going to be a blueprint for what happens in the future,” said Chris Spence, education director of Toronto District School Board. “Every kid that walks through our doors deserves this kind of learning environment. (Private-public partnerships) gives us different funding streams because we can’t fund all of this on our own.”

It cost more than $52 million to build new school with Tridel picking up about $22 million and the school board paying the remainder.

The new high school boasts eco-technology, incorporating improved air quality and energy efficiency, green roofs, a professional-style performing arts theatre and revamped gym.

“Before, the football team would trek to Eglinton Park to do our practices everyday, the music students were in rooms that weren’t really conducive to the kind of learning that happens here and the drama students were in the basement. Now we have one of the top five school theatres in Ontario,” said NTCI student president Martin Laws.

In 2004, the TDSB fished around for a development partner and condo builder Tridel was chosen from a short list of 10 candidates.

The condo development tied to the school includes two residential condo buildings – one 24 storeys and the other 27 storeys – on Roehampton and Broadway Aves.

The groundbreaking was held in Nov. 2007 and the new school was ready to go last month. The demolition of the old building is expected to finish at the end of February, making way for a new football field.

Yes, but the rest is a pile of shit. Couldn't they have taken down that garbage directly to the east instead.

Go see this in person. It looks really good. Has a funky, 60s-retro look at the roofline. Kudos to Tridel.
