Brentford are a lovely club but I'm going to ask some harsh questions because its only fair; What, on match days, once the average gate of 6,500 have taken their seats, are the club planning on doing with the other 13,600 seats? Looks like a nice development but surely that capacity is only warranted if it could be shown 15k-20k would attend matches if they were promoted for example to the Championship. Like I say, I'm yet to find a reason to have any ill-feeling towards Brentford but is the potential fanbase really there? I mean not just a population of people around but genuine potential newcomers to the club?

It is about maintaining a level of success and not stretching the club too far. Gillingham fan myself and we had a brief spell in the dizzy heights of the Championship and there have been rumours of a new ground but since then we've yoyo'd around Leagues 1 & 2 and the crowd numbers aren't consistent, we have a capacity of about 11,000 but generally get about half that. Brentford like Gillingham suffer a bit from geographic location and the ease with which people can just go to see the bigger clubs in London very easily. Wish Brentford every success though as I have a soft spot for them as my first Gillingham game was against the Bees in 1984.
