planning application / central station

Hi everyone
I originally posted this in the world tall buildings section and someone suggested I put it here as well... I hope its of interest to you.

There is a section on the Central Station development, the methodology behind the visual impact assessment, and soem other projects that we have worked on.

It seems that everyone apart from EH are behind this scheme... including the Council and Liverpool Vision. Unfortunately without the backing of EH the scheme will have a rocky ride, but our client is very positive. I have a visual of the scheme overlooking Concert Sqaure and the impact around Ropewks is not as considerable as many have commented on... in fact the CS scheme is actually providing a landmark to a tightly knit street network. I'll post this image to the blog when I get a chance.

I run an interactive virtual environments company in Manchester, England and have done about 600 projects for assessment, planning, or marketing in the past 6 years. I have a blog that contains some our latest work and some links to tall building information if anyone is interested?

http://tallbuildings.blogspot.com/

Best wishes

Thank you. I am also working on the refurbishment of Bold Street. When our client has signed off the visuals I'll let you guys have a look at them.

Excellent Chris. Do you have an idea of when this Central Village tower will come before the planning committee?

Hi, the application went in last November, and there is lobbying in progress with English Heritage at the moment. Its frustrating for the client because everyone else is on board, and the regeneration aspect of the scheme is a truly positive addition to the City of Liverpool... what you can't see from these images is the landscape scheme within the site, designed by Martha Schwartz. It contains a substantial running water feature down the whole site. Furthermore, the scheme links directly with shopping at the arcade level, in itself creating a major economic and cultural boost. I've added some more info to the blog regarding Ropewalks, and a few images inside the site.... I can't upload attachments unfortunately as I don't have the privelidges here.

Great sutff, thanks!

Do you know how tall the tower is in metres/feet?

To post pictures, put the URL of the pictures between two tags like this:

I think it will be 133 metres or 436.24 feet almost the same height as West tower.

West tower as i know is 125m to the rof, same as radio city, but with the added spires it goes up to 138m, so central IF (big if due to nob heads from EH) built will be out biggest

Thanks very much for this Chris. Took me some time to work out where that Fleet Street visual was taken from. Then I realised it was Concert Square.

The only point I would make there is that everyone using that square, especially when it is used for concerts, seems to face the other way so it will be very easy for the nimbys to avoid seeing Central Village tower

Concert Sq used for concerts?

I thought it was a drinking space and a gathering point post Liverpool FC victories.

The tower and whole scheme looks the business and as far as I can make out it's downtown rather than a stand alone feature designed to suck money out of it's immidiate environment.
