CostCo Canberra?

Apparently CostCo is coming to Canberra:

See here, here and here.

Does anyone know where they will be going? As someone says in that thread on The Riot Act, most obvious locations seem to be Fyshwick, Hume or the Airport.

If you check out those links in the first post it should become apparent.

I went to the one in Melbourne, I didn't find too much of it to be dramaticaly cheaper. I guess it works out if you buy in bulk, but in my case I have no where to put a 1kg bucket of fetta cheese.

I love this response!

Its like me when someone posts that a new building will be built in Hobart - I don't give a rats what it will look like or even what it's for - just the thought of new building is enough!!

As it relates to me, I think the applicable term is mindless optimism....

That sounds about right. It's a big section of land, next to the runway. They're building a Caltex and McDonalds on that site also.

I don't think Subabarn will be very pleased.

So it's now been officially announced: Costco is coming to the airport, near Brand Depot.

The Costco will be so big that it's taking up part of the Brand Depot.. Now here's a hot tip.. there will also be a major supermarket and department store at the airport.. They could be going into the rest of Brand Depot..Not sure where this will leave the Supabarn. And Woolies could be sticking their second ACT hardware store at CBR... They now own Magnet Mart.
