Berlin does not even have skyline, Rotternham is getting better, Istanbul skyline is quite nice from away shot.

ALL cities have skylines but all don´t have really tall clusters... (The way Frankfurt has for example )

That is what i am saying, i do not call a skyline if its buildings are not as tall as skyscrapers. I even assume Birmingham skyline is better than Berlin's, what do you reckon? You can add all sort of churches spires or anything like that but i don't think it would suite with the title of what skyline means. PS All cities do not have skylines, there are many cities all over the world that do not own any skyline.

well you're wrong. of course you can make a distinction of modern and historical skylines, but what part of the word 'skyline' suggests anything about skyscrapers? There's the sky, and there's the line that structures create on the horizon----> skyline

and you don't "add" churches, lol they've been there way before the highrises

Definitions of skyscraper on the Web:

a very tall building with many stories
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building. There is no official definition or height above which a building may clearly be classified as a skyscraper. Most cities define the term empirically; even a building of 80 meters (262 feet) may be considered a skyscraper if it protrudes above its built environment and changes the overall skyline.

It´s called "Skyline".
Not "Skyscraperline".
Infact even a "Cluster" could potentially be made up of churches and towers without them necessarily being skyscrapers or high rises.
If they make an impact on the skyline they are indeed part of the city´s such.
Only cities without tall structures, buildings, churches, spires, towers, scrapers, etc. have no skyline.
In other words only the really small ones.
Then we also have the word "Cityscape" which most definitely includes ALL structures and buildings.
Not only the scrapers och the other tall ones.

^ Are you being serious? You were talking about skylines and not -scrapers

A skyscraper has to be at least 200m tall if you go by SSC standarts. By that meaning both Berlin and Birmingham (or any city in GER and UK except of Frankfurt and London) doesn't have a single skyscraper (and thus no skyline?). If you only count "skyscrapers" as part of the skyline Frankfurt (5) and London (2) don't have that many themselves (only counting built and T/O buildings).

As far as a building is 100m above i would call it a skyscraper, this is also acknowledged by wikipedia. So basically according to this definition London currently has 44 skyscrapers that are (100m+), 12 skyscrapers (100m+) are under construction, another 45 skyscrapers (100m+) have been approved. OK dears i would not call a very tall church spire or transmitter a skyscraper, and i would not against your opinion either. I think Paris has more (100m+) buildings. Anyway, great to see a cool night shot of Berlin there, thank you for all your contribution.
