The construction plan notice has come out.

And it confirms all the data we already knew, the height is 189m and the construction will start September 2011.


The design was a bit unclear, there were 2 different ones that circulated on the internet. This one seems to be the correct one.

The area around the South entrance of Hiroshima station is undergoing a huge redevelopment. Most noticeable will be 2 high rises, this tower will be the tallest of the 2. The decision to go ahead hasn't been made yet, but the city is working making it happen. Hopefully they will make it possible in order to start the construction in 2012.

They are indeed nice towers, I hope they will also go U/C without delays and big negative changes in height.

I also now have threads for every 100m+ tower that is U/C right now. There won't be any surprise projects anymore, unless they are just 100m. Now I just have to watch out for new projects that go U/C, there might be some surprises there because there are enough projects lying in wait that I haven't posted anything about yet.

I'm always wondering what happened to the Nishi Shinjuku 3-Chome Redevelopment:

Thank you, Momo. I didn't know it was cancelled.
I's very sad. It would have added a hilarious look to the shinjuku skyline.
However, since it was cancelled, there isn't anything said that a similar project would be revived in the Shinjuku area? At least any additions planned for Shinjuku skyline at the moment?

There are a couple of developments that that are in the planning.

Another long term redevelopment project with a 209 meter high tower. The redevelopment plans started in 1993 and in 2008 it was decided to go ahead. But it's still just a plan not a project and there are no starting and completion dates. The final approval for this project has been requested in order to start construction in 2011.
Other projects that are known:

# TOKYO 東京 | Nishi-Shinjuku 5-chome North District Redevelopment Project 西新宿五丁目北地区再開発事業 | 155m & 130m | Pro - info

# The Leopalace 21 Replacement Plan. This one should already be underway and could become 140m, there's just very little info on this project right now. But I won't be surprised if it suddenly goes U/C this year.

And the Nishi Shinjuku 3-Chome Redevelopment can always come back to life, just in a different scaled down form. It could still be very tall, but just 1 tower. Since we don't know anything now it's basically all still open.

But it should be said that currently the main areas of development are Marunouchi/Otemamachi and Roppongi/Toranomon. Shinjuku is just a bit slower right now when it comes to big office developments. But that can change again of course.....

TOKYO 東京 | Shirokanedai 2-chome Rebuilding Project 白金台二丁目マンション建替えプロジェクト | 34F | plan



This is a project that has been on the boards for quite some time, it had already passed is construction start date in complete silence. But now it seems that things are moving. Previously there was a design with 35 floors that was 120m high, the new tower that has been announced now is a bit lower with 34 floors without a given height. I guess it will be somewhere around 115m high. The tower will replace 2 existing older residential buildings, a 13 floor high one and a low-rise. Construction should start January next year and it should be completed in 2014.

It feels a bit weird posting news now with everything going on, but the following also came out today in one of the construction newspapers.

Braillard already asked about it last year, but now things seem to become more solid.

The last news about this project is from 2008 when the Redevelopment Preparation Association was established. This is basically the 1st official step in the redevelopment process, it's the step before the actual decision to go ahead is made. This could take quite a few years, especially when it's as big as this. 用地交換で港区有地取得/六本木ヒルズ隣接の再開発/森ビル
 六本木ヒルズの東側約8・1haを範囲に検討されている再開発事業で新たな動きが出始めた。再開発準備組合の事務局を務める森ビルが、港区との用地交換を通じて、区域内にある区有地を取得する見通しだ。同再開発は、六本木地区の新たな複合開発として注目を集めており、事業推進の弾みとなりそうだ。構想案によると、業務、住宅、大学などの超高層ビル数棟を核とした数十万m2級の大規模開発をイメージしている。
 再開発事業の検討区域は、六本木ヒルズ東側に位置する約8・1ha。区域内には、商業ビルの六本木ロアビル、東洋英和女学院小学部、高級住宅の川崎ハウス、国際文化会館、港区が所有する鳥居坂グラウンドなどが立地している。2008年3月に六本木五丁目西地区市街地再開発準備組合が発足。事務局を森ビルが務めている。
 用地交換は、鳥居坂グラウンド(3020㎡)と森ビルが所有する2カ所の土地で行う。2カ所は、麻布地区総合支所(六本木5−16−45)北側にある土地1974㎡と、麻布図書館(六本木5−12−24)に隣接する土地434㎡。
 再開発の構想案によると安全安心、国際交流都市などをテーマに区域を4つのゾーンに分けて、業務、住宅、大学の各超高層棟を核に、さまざまな機能を配置する模様だ。規模も数十万m2級になるとみられる。各棟は地下駐車場などでつなぎ、地上部は緑化する。
 内閣官房地域活性化統合事務局が募集した「総合特区制度」に関する提案の中でも、同社は再開発事業のコンセプトなどを公表している。

 13年に着工し、16年の竣工を見込んでいる。

Mori Building will take on the redevelopment of Roppongi 5-chome. There will be some tall buildings, but some of the current functions in the area will also come back. Construction will start in 2013, with a completion date in 2016.


What remains to be seen is the impact of the disaster on the economy and therefor all the projects that are proposed right now. But that's something to think about when all the immediate problems are solved of course.

Ive just seen a prospective skyscraper project in shinjuku got approved. Called Nishi-Tomihisa Redevelopment!
It's 225 M tall, and it will be built in 2013. I still doubt if it's true. I didn't see anything about it here. So maybe someone can confirm whether this is just a rumor or yet it's true?

I think that it is this project:

That I wrongly had listed as:

but changed it now.

The height of this tower has been cut a couple of times since it was announced in 2001. It was approved last year as a 180m tower.

Recently the demolition started of the former HQ of the Shin Nippon Oil company in West Shimbashi without any known plans for a new building. Now the plans for a 22 floors, 122m high building have come out in a construction newspaper.

I kind of like this post-war architecture, so I wished they would have kept at least the outer part of the actual building. They did that with several buildings in Otemachi-Marunouchi, like the JP building most recently. But from the small render in the newspaper scan, it's clear that they will destroy it completely.

Well, if it can bring something new to this area, why not! The neighboring Hibiya City complex is just 30 years old now but looks very outdated.

I'm looking forward for a more detailed render.
