Selly Oak (Birmingham) Regeneration

I saw the plans for Selly Oak yesterday and they look pretty good

The exisiting Sainsbury's will go and be replaced by courtyarded apartment blocks. The canal behind Halfords and Homebase will be reopened with a basin that could house 20 or so narrowboats. Sainsburys will front on to this, with additional retail and housing to the 'left' of it as well as parking and a 'transport interchange' (a bus station of some form). The road will be diverted and an island placed roughly where the nursery was, with the new road heading off this toward the hospital.

Rumours abound that prep work starts at Easter! Final planning due soon.

I must say not a lot looked like the renders, but we shall see...
