Development Details

The coastal site for the proposed Mazagan Resort is several kilometers northeast of the old fortified town of El Jadida, originally built by the Portuguese, and only forty-five minutes drive from Casablanca.

In Phase 1 there will be a 500 key resort hotel with a conference centre and spa, an entertainment Souk, an 18 hole championship golf course, all set around a 10 hectare sea-water lagoon with natural white sandy beaches.

There will be second and third phases to the project which will include a second golf course, luxury residential properties, three hotels, and a sports academy.

The design of Mazagan has already begun, and it is planned that the resort will open in August 2007.

I heard of an Isreali Casino plane and ship, ause it's illegal in Isreal they gamble outside the israeli borders.

Location: El Jadida

Mazagan's seaside resort (station) is 80 km far from the city of Casablanca , the economic capital of Morocco .

Nearby there is the international airport of the king dom. At the northern part of Mazagan lie ancient Azama, the town of Azemmour , and the Oume-Rabie River . To the south of this station, lies white Mazagan, the town of Ej Jadida .

Site
Being surrowded by a forest of eucalyptus trees tasting of invigorating scents, this site (area) stret ches over a coastline of more than 15 km and an area of 500 hectares.

Developer
The group who is responsible for the planning and the development of this station comprises Kerzner Internetional ,the " Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion " of the Moroccan-Emiraty Company of Development, and the MAMDA MC MA.

Programme
Mazagan's station is intended for a national and international target which offers a tourist experience based on the following themes: water activities, entertainment, sport, and incentive.

With an area of 500 hectares, this station is expected to have an accommodation capacity of 8000 beds, including 3900 hotel beds. It offers also a wide range of special accommodation facilities:


1 Entertainment pole around two lagoons;
1 Sport academy;
2 Golf courses of 18 holes each;
1 Conference center

Project

Direct investment: 2,3 billion DH;
Investment of other developers: 2,9 billion DH;

I remember reading that the reason the company has invested that much is that they are assured the only casino is the neighbouring area. Much of their money will be through gambling and they have signed to not have any casino multiple kilometers away!
Nevertheless, good project. I think the water projects are much more understandable in mazagan region than marrakech because here at least theres the atlantic ocean!

La station Mazagan définitivement sur les rails

«Les travaux d’urbanisation et de construction démarreront dans les huit semaines», promet Patrick Sionneau, PDG de Resort CO Sa, la société en charge du projet. Cette deernière attend les dernières autorisations pour démarrer les travaux.
«La première phase du projet s’étend sur 235 ha, et requiert un investissement de trois milliards de DH», précise Sionneau. Rappelons que la superficie globale de la station balnéaire est de 504 ha, pour un montant global de 6,3 milliards de DH. Au final, Mazagan possédera une capacité hôtelière de 7.500 lits. La première unité hôtelière devrait être livrée en 2009, tandis que le projet devrait être complètement achevé pour 2018.
La toute première phase est constituée d’un hôtel cinq étoiles de 500 chambres, avec pool house autour de la piscine, lagon, complexe de conférences pouvant recevoir mille personnes et centre de remise en forme. Un important centre de divertissement, comprenant un casino, apparaît également au menu.
Les futurs vacanciers auront l’embarras du choix côté gastronomie, car quatre grands restaurants leurs seront proposés. Cuisines marocaine, portugaise, méditerranéenne ou internationale: chacun des établissements pourra accueillir 200 invités. Ceci sans oublier le terrain de golf de 18 trous, qui sera dessiné par Gary Player.
Enfin, la construction de 150 villas tournées vers la mer est également prévue pour cette première phase.
Entre 800 et 1.500 ouvriers viendront s’affairer dans ce vaste chantier, leurs travaux s’échelonneront sur trente mois.

Qui finance?


Le groupement est composé de Kerzner Investments Morocco Limited, de la Société Maroc émirats arabes unis de développement (SOMED), de la Caisse de dépôt et de gestion développement (GDG), de la Mutuelle agricole marocaine d’assurance (MAMDA), et de la Mutuelle centrale marocaine d’assurance (MCMA).

Les travaux de la station Mazagan démarrent en juin


· 1.500 ouvriers, 8 grues et une usine à ciment pour la 1ère phase

Le démarrage des travaux de la station Mazagan prévu en juin ne devrait pas, en principe, souffrir de retard. En effet, ainsi que l’indique Patrick Sionneau, DG de Mazagan Resort, la société en charge de la station a aujourd’hui en main toutes les autorisations délivrées par Rabat et El-Jadida. Aussi, le marché des travaux des urbanisations et des constructions a été confié au consortium Besix-Somagec-Depa et avec lequel les dernières négociations sont en cours de finalisation. Un trio composé respectivement d’une société belge et de deux entreprises marocaines, spécialisées dans le béton et les finitions. Le marché devrait être définitivement conclu avant fin mai, est-il ajouté.
Le management du projet sera assuré par une trentaine de personnes assistées d’une trentaine de techniciens. Il est prévu environ 700 ouvriers sur le chantier avec des pics atteignant 1.500 personnes. Le chantier comprendra 8 grues et une usine à ciment pour ériger l’hôtel, le complexe de divertissement et le centre des congrès. Les travaux de la première phase du projet s’étendront sur 235 ha pour des investissements de l’ordre de 3 milliards DH, est-il précisé (cf. www.leconomiste.com). La superficie totale de la station est de 504 ha pour un montant global de 6,3 milliards DH.
L’objectif du chantier est d’assurer une capacité hôtelière de 7.500 lits.
Si la première unité compte être livrée en 2009, le projet global ne sera définitivement bouclé qu’en 2018, précise Sionneau.
Rappelons que, dans une première étape, sont prévus un hôtel 5 étoiles avec 500 chambres et un pool house autour de la piscine, avec, nec plus ultra, un lagon artificiel. Un complexe de conférences s’étalera sur 3.500 m2 pouvant abriter un millier de personnes, et un centre de remise en forme de 1.600 m2 fait partie des réalisations. Et, ce qui ne gâche rien, un supercentre de divertissement comprenant entre autres un casino est également au menu.
Le projet se compose également de quatre grands restaurants sur 2.400 m2 (cuisine marocaine, portugaise, méditerranéenne et internationale). Chaque restaurant est prévu pour 200 couverts. Egalement, un golf de 18 trous dessiné par Gary Player avec club house de 1000 m2. Il est prévu de plus la construction de 150 villas toutes orientées vers la mer. Rien que pour cette première phase, 1.200 plans seront confiés aux différentes entreprises de construction. Une fois opérationnelle, la station Mazagan assurera l’emploi permanent de 1.600 à 1.800 personnes tous métiers confondus. Et ce, dans les domaines de l’hôtellerie, de la restauration, de l’hébergement, de l’animation, de l’administration et des techniques. Les recrutements sont déjà en cours pour administrer les formations préalables. Les promotions des deux écoles hôtelières d’El-Jadida sont sollicitées pour finaliser des précontrats.

Morocco has more golf courses than all arab countries combined,and Tangier hosts the oldest golf course in Africa and the arab world...it dates back to 1917.
