MOSCOW: Plans for world's tallest eco skyscraper unvieled
Moscow City Tower
The architecture firm Foster and Partners unvieled plans for the world's tallest naturally ventilated building, taller than the world's first eco-skyscraper - the Commerzbank in Frankfurt. The tower has been designed for the CTT Group. The mixed-use project contains apartments, hotel, office and leisure space (i.e. public ice-rink) aswell as a series of green skygardens that draw in natural ventilation and provide key circulation and social space. At the top there is a publicly accessible viewing deck with cafes and bars. More details are not available yet. ![]() (I didn't count the floors, but it looks like it may reach 80 easily) |

Well, I'm probably a sissy but I have the feeling that towers above 500m aren't necessarily a good idea. When you checked the WTC, they were about 400m-tall and they still dominated NY's skyline, which is a lot denser than Moscow one. I have the fear that too tall projects would squeeze other buildings and give a bit that weird impression we have in Eastern Europe cities which are dominated by TV antennas.
Even in the case of Paris I've been scared the much humble planned 400m-tower would squeeze the rest of La Défense. Well, I know several supertalls including a 400m tower are already in construction in Moscow but are all these towers planned in the same cluster ? If not that wouldn't solve the problem... Anyway, I hope all those great project in Moscow will be a success !

The only resemblance it has to it is that it has a similar 3-wing structure. The same can be said about burj dubai. The old tower reminded me of a giant pencil. This new one is so huge and soaring (maybe it's a bad thing because it dwarfs the human scale though). Someone on SSP said that it screams Russia. I agree 100%
