Skyline Investments has just sold the lot, looks like this proposal may not be built to these plans anymore. It'll be interesting to hear what is next for this site.

Good, it was to short for that roofline. That site needs something tall a modern.
The only way a developer can make money with that site is by building tall. Most units below 300 ft would have zero view. Harry had the scale right with the original Sapphire, just not the design. Ideally this should be office/residential or office/hotel. The city has already shown it doesn't mind the height if the design is good. The whole save NPS from a shadow in the middle of the winter for 2hrs a day nonsense I think was more of a roadblock for Harry's Dubai-esque designs.

I wasn't crazy about the design. Something like Absolute would do wonders in this spot, without the crappy podium of course.

That could work too. A more ornate version of Uptown in the core would look great.

I usually dislike them too, but I adore One Saint Thomas. I had higher expectations for Uptown, that one didn't turn out too well. OST proves that it can be done right, with enough money.

I find the Elysian to be one of the worst attempts at historical recreation. The one above isn't much better. The core has a number of great old buildings. If we are to have more, I'd rather they be spread around to other parts of downtown.
I know it's just a pipe dream, but if they'd complete College Park that would do wonders for bringing some grandeur and elegance to that part of town. College Park I & II have made building one corner of the old College Park impossible, but the other 3 corners are still doable as is the main tower that was to rise from the centre of the complex. Maybe they could resurrect the old 'Toronto Tower' building for the Canada Tower spot? The cancelled 'Toronto Tower' with the pyramid roof:

With this certain location the height should have allowed for much higher increase as high as 80 story.
