The new integrated passenger terminal building of Chaudhary Charan Singh (Amausi) Airport in Lucknow may become operational next month. Brahmaputra Infrastructure Limited (BIL), which is constructing the building, was scheduled to hand over half portion of the building to Lucknow airport authorities on May 10, but the date was put off till month-end. The other half will be handed over by June 15. The airport authorities have fixed June 30 as the deadline to start operations at the new terminal building. “Civil as well as electrical work is 95 per cent complete, and finishing works like making of the false ceiling are going on. We will complete these works in the arrival section and hand over that to the Lucknow airport authorities by month-end. The remaining portion will be given for operational set-up by June 15,” said R C Verma, general manager of BIL. Airport director Atul Dixit said, “AAI general manager H S Balhara has asked to start operations from the new terminal building by June 30.” Dixit denied to comment on the time airport staff could take for setting up services inside building. The new terminal building is spread on 20,000 sq metre, of which 16,000 sq metre will be for public. Officials said the arrival section at the ground floor of the terminal building would have a conveyor belt, check-in counters, offices of Customs and security. The building will have customer services on the ground floor and aerobridges on the first floor. Three elevators and three escalators have been installed in the building. Two parking lots of capacity 1,500 vehicles are being developed in front of the building. |
