Best Latvian architecture 2010

Latvian Architecture Award 2010

Today there is a ceremony of yearly Latvian Architecture award going on in Botanical garden of Riga. There will be Grand Prix - bronze pinaple given and 5 small prizes - the slices of bronze pinaple. The event is organized by Latvian Architects' Union already 16th yer. Lets wait who will get the pinaple.

The main candidates to the prizes

Forestschool in Riga, architects: Forma

DnB Nord bank in Riga, Skanstes street area, Audrius Ambrasas Architects (from Vilnius)

Latvian pavillion at EXPO 2010 in Shangai, architects: Mailītis A.I.I.M.

ESCLISE mobile house, architects: ARHIIDEA

and two holiday houses:
one - in Kurzeme (western part of Latvia) near Venta river, architects: NRJA

and another near Alūksnes lake in Vidzeme (norteastern part of Latvia), architects: AB3D

And - even vote on local poll here - but it will not impact the prize, cause the winners are chosen by international jury.

I like the flower shop because it looks like a perfect fit in contemporary Jelgava.

My favorite would be ESCLISE mobile house having one somewhere in a quiet corner of a Latvian (or Lithuanian) nature beside a lake surrounded by forests would be really nice

DnB Nord and the two holiday houses looks really good, ESCLISE mobile house looks just boring and lacking creativity!
