Also it would be better to add prefix Salem as it would display the threads in google as majority will search with such prefix.

Arul, Since the threads are inside the sub-forum, we need not have the prefix. For instance, we do not have Chennai prefixed in the threads under the sub-forum.

Private bus operators seek fare hike

Private bus operators feel that cutting a couple of trips to reduce fuel consumption will help them save their pockets from the escalating fuel price.

Namakkal: Private bus operators and education institutions in this emerging educational district are irked by the diesel price hike. President of the Namakkal District Bus Operators Association Jothi V. Kuppusamy told The Hindu that the hike has put the future of the State's private bus operations in jeopardy.

“It has only added fuel to fire as we are already badly hit by the State government's decision not to increase ticket fares. The current rates were introduced in 2001 _ 28 paise per kilometre. “The fuel price then was Rs. 18.75 per litre and one can imagine the difficulty we face in running operations even after the price has increased by about Rs. 25,” Mr. Kuppusamy added.

After factoring in additional expenditure consequent to the recent diesel price hike, the association president said that the cost per day of expenses for diesel would be Rs. 500, he said and added that he has been spending the last two days pacifying members of the association, worried over operating buses in the present situation.

“However, we would not go against the government by resorting to a strike as we do not want the common man to suffer. We would make representations to the government through the federation to consider either revoking the hike or increasing ticket rates, Mr. Kuppusamy said. “We feel that dispensing with a couple of trips would profitable as an interim cost cutting measure till the government takes a decision, he said.

While this is the fate of the 4,600 private buses of the State, the government transport department that operates close to 20,000 buses would be additionally burdened, he observed. He said the government department had mechanisms to make up for the loss with subsidies coming in from other profit making departments.

With education institutions operating more than thrice the number of private buses in this district, the managements are concerned over the diesel price hike as most of them have already collected transportation fees from the students.

“With the fuel price increasing by 10.9 per cent we do not know how to revise the charges,” one of them said.

Chairman of Vivekanandha Educational Institution for Women Dr. M. Karunanidhi said that the 200 buses and 50 vans they operated to provide free transportation to the students had a consumption level of 1.25 lakh litres of diesel every month.

“The hike means an additional expense of Rs. 54.6 lakh annually in addition to the Rs. 9 crore we have been spending every year for the fuel and maintenance expenses,” he added.

Actually the operator charge more than this! Tharai was charging 600rupees for AC bus and KPN sleeper was 495 rupees.. now both will increase again!

Only Vijayalakshmi travels charges less.

சேலம் : சேலம் மாநகரில் நிலவும் கடும் போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் காரணமாக, வாகன விபத்துக்களின் மூலம் பலியாவோர் எண்ணிக்கை நாளுக்கு நாள் அதிகரித்து வருகிறது. போக்குவரத்து துறையில் நிலவும் போலீஸ் பற்றாக்குறை காரணமாக, விபத்துக்கள் அதிகரித்துள்ளதாக குற்றச்சாட்டு எழுந்துள்ளது. சேலம் மாநகர எல்லைக்குள் போக்குவரத்தை சரி செய்யும் வகையில், போக்குவரத்து புலனாய்வு பிரிவு செயல்பட்டு வருகிறது. இத்துறைக்கு தனியாக உதவி கமிஷ்னர் ஒருவர், இரண்டு ஆர்.ஐ.,க்கள், நான்கு எஸ்.ஐ.,க்கள் இருந்த போதிலும், போலீஸ் பற்றக்குறை காரணமாக போக்குவரத்து நெரிசலை கட்டுப்படுத்த முடியாத நிலையே காணப்படுகிறது.
சேலம் பழைய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட், புதிய பஸ் ஸ்டாண்ட், நான்கு ரோடு, ஐந்து ரோடு, ஜங்ஷன், கடை வீதி, அக்ரஹாரம், அம்மாபேட்டை, திருச்சி மெயின் ரோட்டில் பிரபாத் வரையிலான பகுதியில், எப்போதும் கடுமையான போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் காணப்படுகிறது. மாநகரில் போக்குவரத்தை சரி செய்ய, தெற்கு, வடக்கு போக்குவரத்து பிரிவுகள் இருந்த போதிலும், போதுமான போலீஸார் இல்லை. இரண்டு பிரிவுகளிலும் சேர்த்து, குறைந்த பட்சம், 80 போலீஸார் பணியில் இருக்க வேண்டும். தற்போது, 40 பேர் மட்டுமே பணியில் உள்ளனர். இவர்களில் நான்கு பேர், அதிகாரிகளின் வீடுகளிலும், மூன்று பேர் நீதிமன்ற பணிக்கும், நான்கு பேர் பிற பணிகளுக்கும் சென்று விடுகின்றனர். இதனால், போக்குவரத்து ஒழுங்குபடுத்தும் பணியில், 29 பேர் மட்டுமே ஈடுபடுகின்றனர். அவர்களை கொண்டு போக்குவரத்தை சரி செய்வதா, விதிமுறை மீறும் வாகனங்களை கண்காணிப்பதா? என, அதிகாரிகளே குழம்பி போய் உள்ளனர். இதனால் தான், மாநகரில் எப்போதுமே கடுமையான போக்குவரத்து நெரிசலில் வாகனங்கள் சிக்கி தவிக்கின்றன. வாகன விபத்துக்களின் எண்ணிக்கையும் அதிகரித்து உயிரிழப்போரின் எண்ணிக்கையும் உயர்ந்துள்ளது. சேலம் மாநகரில், ஜூன் மாதத்தில் மட்டும், 78 வாகன விபத்துக்களில் காயம் அடைந்தவர்கள், அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு சிகிச்சைக்கு சேர்ந்துள்ளனர். அதில், எட்டு பேர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளனர். இது தவிர தனியார் மருத்துவமனையிலும் சிகிச்சை பெற்றவர்களும் உண்டு. நாளுக்கு நாள் வாகனங்கள் அதிகரிப்புக்கு ஏற்ப, இத்துறையில் போதிய போலீஸார் நியமிக்கப்படாததே வாகன விபத்துக்களுக்கு காரணம் என, குற்றச்சாட்டு எழுந்துள்ளது. கடந்த மாதம், சேலம் சாரதா கல்லூரி ரோட்டில் ஏற்பட்ட போக்குவரத்து நெரிசலில், அமைச்சர் இடைப்பாடி பழனிசாமி, முன்னாள் போலீஸ் கமிஷ்னர் சுனில்குமார் சிங் ஆகியோர் சிக்கிக்கொண்டு அவதிப்பட்ட சம்பவமும் நடந்துள்ளது. போக்குவரத்து நெரிசலில் சிக்கிய போலீஸ் கமிஷ்னர், போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் ஏற்படும் பகுதிகளில் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட போலீஸ் ஸ்டேஷன் போலீஸார் போக்குவரத்தை சரி செய்ய வேண்டும் என, உத்தரவிட்டார். அவர் பணி மாறுதலில் சென்ற பின், அந்த உத்தரவும் அமலில் இல்லை. இந்நிலையில், சேலம் மாரியம்மன் கோவில்களில் ஆடித்திருவிழா விரைவில் நடைபெற உள்ளது. திருவிழா காலங்களில் மக்கள் கூட்டம் மேலும் அதிகரிக்கும்பட்சத்தில், கடுமையான போக்குவரத்து நெரிசல் ஏற்படும். எனவே, போக்குவரத்தை சரி செய்யும் பணியில், கூடுதல் போலீஸாரை நியமிக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.

Traffic chaos all over the city due to shortage of traffic police.

Article says, the Police Commissioner and Minister were stuck in a heavy traffic jam on Sarada College Road, after which the Police Commissioner placed an order into the issue.

This by itself is a shame. Only when they are on the road and face traffic issues, they take action on any problem. Why did he not get reports from his sub-ordinates about these issues on a regular basis?

சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டம் வழக்கம் போல புறக்கணிப்பு : பயணிகள் ஏமாற்றம்

சேலம்: தெற்கு ரயில்வே சார்பில் புதிதாக, 19 ரயில்கள் இயக்கப்படுவதற்கான அறிவிப்பு, ஜூன் 30 ம் தேதி வெளியானது. இதில், சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டம் வழக்கம் போல புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சேலம் வழியாக நீடிப்பு ரயில்களும் இயக்கப்படாதது பல்வேறு தரப்பினர் இடையே அதிருப்தியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. பல்வேறு சர்ச்சைகளுக்கு இடையே, 2006 ம் ஆண்டு, சேலத்தில் தனி ரயில்வே கோட்டம் உதயமானது. சேலம் கோட்டத்தின் மூலம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும், கோடிக்கணக்கான ரூபாய் வருவாய் ஈட்டப்பட்டு வருகிறது. ஆனால், ரயில் திட்டப்பணிகள், புதிய ரயில்களை இயக்குவது ஆகியவற்றில், சேலம் கோட்டம் தொடர்ந்து புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது.



ஐந்து ஆண்டாக தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட ரயில்வே பட்ஜெட், இதற்கு உதாரணம். தமிழகத்தை சேர்ந்த எம்.பி.,க்களால், சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டத்தின் தேவையை பூர்த்தி செய்ய முடியாத பரிதாப நிலை நீடித்து வருகிறது. சேலம் கோட்டம் புறக்கணிக்கப்படுவது குறித்து, அரசியல் கட்சியினர் யாரும் வாய் திறக்காமல், மவுனம் காத்து வருகின்றனர். தமிழக அரசியல் கட்சியினரின், "மவுன புரட்சியின்' விளைவாக, சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டம் மீண்டும் புறக்கணிப்புக்குள்ளான சம்பவம், பல்வேறு தரப்பினர் இடையே அதிர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. ஜூன் 30 ம் தேதி, தெற்கு ரயில்வே சார்பில் தமிழகத்தின் பல்வேறு பகுதிகளில் இருந்து, 19 புதிய ரயில்கள் இயக்கப்படுவதாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது.



சென்னை-மதுரை துரந்தோ, சென்னை-திருவனந்தபுரம் துரந்தோ, கன்னியாகுமரி-திப்ரூகர், துவாரகா-தூத்துக்குடி, சந்திரகாச்சி-மங்களூரு, திருவனந்தபுரம்-நிலாம்பூர், ஷீரடி-சென்னை, தூத்துக்குடி-கோவை, மைசூரு-சென்னை, பாவ்நகர்-கொச்சுவேலி, போர்பந்தர்-கொச்சுவேலி, வாஸ்கோடகாமா-வேளாளங்கண்ணி, பிலாஸ்பூர்-எர்ணாகுளம், காரக்பூர்-விழுப்புரம், புருலியா-விழுப்புரம், டில்லி-பாண்டிச்சேரி, பெங்களூரு சிட்டி-எர்ணாகுளம், பாலக்காடு-மங்களூரு சென்ட்ரல், மேட்டுப்பாளையம் பாஸஞ்சர் ரயில், ஆகியவை ஆகும். ஒரு ரயில் கூட சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டத்தில் இருந்து இயக்கப்படவில்லை.



திருநெல்வேலி-ஈரோடு, கோவை - ஈரோடு ஆகிய பாஸஞ்சர் ரயில்களை சேலம் வரை நீடிக்க வேண்டும் என்று, பல்வேறு தரப்பினர் தொடர்ந்து கோரிக்கை விடுத்து வருகின்றனர். ஈரோடு-ஜோலார் பேட்டைக்கு இயக்கப்படும் இரண்டு பாஸஞ்சர் ரயில்கள் மணிக்கணக்கில் ஜோலார்பேட்டையில் நிறுத்தப்படுகிறது. இடைப்பட்ட நேரத்தில், ஒரு பாஸஞ்சர் ரயிலை திருப்பதிக்கும், மற்றொரு பாஸஞ்சர் ரயிலை சென்னைக்கும் இயக்கலாம். மைசூர்-சென்னை இடையே, 600 கி.மீ., தூரத்துக்கு மேல் பாஸஞ்சர் ரயிலை இயக்கும் போது, ஜோலார்பேட்டை-சென்னை இடையே, தாராளமாக பாஸஞ்சர் ரயிலை இயக்க முடியும். ஆனால், அதிகாரிகள் மவுனம் காக்கின்றனர்.



ஏற்காடு எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில், 15 மணி நேரம் ஈரோட்டில் நிறுத்தப்படுகிறது. அந்த நேரத்தில், அந்த ரயிலை சேலம், தர்மபுரி, ஓசூர் வழியாக பெங்களூரு வரை இயக்கலாம். சேலம்-சென்னை எழும்பூர் எக்ஸ்பிரஸ் ரயில், சேலத்தில் பல மணி நேரம் நிறுத்தப்படுவதற்கு பதிலாக, அதை கோவை வர இயக்கினால், வியாபாரிகள், கல்லூரி மாணவர்கள் பயன் அடைவர் என, பலரும் கோரிக்கை விடுத்து வருகின்றனர். சேலம் கோட்டம் வழியாக புதிய ரயில்கள் வேண்டும் என்று கோரிக்கை விடுத்து, சலிப்படைந்தவர்கள், சமீபகாலமாக நீடிப்பு ரயில்களையாவது இயக்க வேண்டும் என்று குரல் கொடுத்து வருகின்றனர். ஆனால், கடந்த மாதம் புதிய ரயில்கள் குறித்து வெளியான அறிவிப்பு, பெரும் ஏமாற்றத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி உள்ளது.



சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்ட முன்னாள் ஆலோசனை குழு உறுப்பினர் ஹரிகரன்பாபு கூறியதாவது: சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டம் வழியாக, தென் தமிழகத்தை இணைக்கும் வகையில், புதிய ரயில்கள் எதுவும் இயக்கப்படவில்லை. பெங்களூரு-புதுச்சேரி வரையில், வாரம் ஒரு முறை இயக்கும் கரீப் ரயிலை, பிற நாட்களிலும் இயக்க வேண்டும். கோவை-திருப்பதி இடையே அறிவிக்கப்பட்ட தினசரி ரயில், வாரத்தில் மூன்று நாள் மட்டுமே இயக்கப்படுகிறது. அதை தினமும் இயக்க நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும்.



சேலத்தில் ஐந்து பிளாட்பாரம் உள்ளது. சேலம் கோட்டம் முற்றிலும் நவீனமயமாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பல்வேறு சிறப்பம்சங்களை கொண்டிருந்தாலும், புதிய ரயில்களை இயக்குவது, ரயில்களை நீடிப்பு செய்வது ஆகியவற்றில், புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டு வருவது தான் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியாமல் உள்ளது.இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.



சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்ட ஆலோசனை குழு உறுப்பினர் குள்ளமடை சரவணன் கூறியதாவது: சேலம்-சென்னை இடையே பகல் நேரத்தில் புதிய ரயில் இயக்க வேண்டும். கோவை-சென்னை துரந்தோ எக்ஸ்பிரஸ், சேலத்தில் நின்று செல்ல வேண்டும் ஆகிய கோரிக்கைகள் பலமுறை, ரயில்வே நிர்வாகத்தின் கவனத்துக்கு கொண்டு செல்லப்பட்டுள்ளது. ரயில் பயணிகளின் நலனை கருத்தில் கொண்டு, புதிய ரயில்கள் இயக்குவது குறித்த அறிவிப்பை வெளியிட வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு அவர் கூறினார்.



சேலம் வருவாயிலும் புறக்கணிப்பிலும் முதலிடம் : இந்திய அளவில் அதிக வருவாய் தரக்கூடிய மண்டலங்களில் தெற்கு ரயில்வே மூன்றாம் இடம் பிடித்துள்ளது. தெற்கு ரயில்வேயில், சேலம், கோட்ட அளவில் முதன்மையான இடத்தை பெற்றுள்ளது. வலுவான வருவாய் ஆதாரங்களை கொண்டிருந்தாலும், "புறக்கணிப்பில்' சேலம் கோட்டத்துக்கு தொடர்ந்து முதன்மையான இடம் கிடைத்து வருகிறது. சேலத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள ரயில்வே கோட்டத்தின் செயல்பாடுகள், திட்டப்பணிகள், அலுவலக ரீதியாக ரயில்வே நிர்வாகத்துக்கு விரைந்து அனுப்பி வைக்க வேண்டிய கோப்புகள் ஆகியவை குறித்து, தமிழக எம்.பி.,க்கள் யாரும் ஒரு முறை கூட, சேலம் கோட்ட அலுவலகத்துக்குள் நுழைந்து, அதிகாரிகளிடம் ஆலோசனை மேற்கொண்டதில்லை.



ஆனால், விரைவான பயணத்துக்காக, எம்.பி.,க்களால் வழங்கப்படும், இ.க்யூ., விண்ணப்பங்கள் மட்டும், கட்சி கரைவேஷ்டிகள் மூலம் நாள் தவறாமல் கோட்ட அலுவலகத்தின் வாசலை எட்டிவிடுகிறது. சேலம் ரயில்வே கோட்டம் தொடர்ந்து புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்டு வருவதற்கு, துறை ரீதியான நடவடிக்கை எடுத்தால் மட்டும் போதாது. நம் எம்.பி.,க்களும் தொடர்ந்து குரல் கொடுக்க வேண்டும். வெறும் லெட்டர் பேடு எம்.பி.,யாக இல்லாமல், உரக்க குரல் கொடுத்து காரியம் சாதிக்கவும் நம் எம்.பி.,க்கள், கேரள எம்.பி.,க்களிடம் பாடம் கற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

Unless Chennai, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chidambaram buses are diverted via bye-pass instead entering the city via Maravaneri, Cherry road, 4 roads etc., there will not be any solution...

There is lot of error in railway report!

There is no such passenger between Mysore-Chennai or Tuticorin...

Also i don't think entire Salem division is neglected in train service. Coimbatore got good share on starting trains since Salem division was formed... only it faces bye-passing problem!

But other than Salem-Egmore express none of the new trains got introduced for Salem.. the reporter should have made article projecting as Salem instead the division.

Medians are kept in the roads between Junction and Thiruvagoundanoor Bye pass. But still the cement work and all is pending. This helps the traffic flow in that road very much.

This is very messy.. I don't understand what the Collector and Mayor are doing. They are just idle dolls doing nothing to improve the infrastructure which is very out-dated.

This road has witnessed a very high increase in traffic in the past few years since the mofussil buses were diverted on this road to the Central Bus Terminus. ARRS Multiplex, followed by a huge number of retail outlets are making the matter worse.
