WALKING TOUR OF SYDNEY - WATSONS BAY

Our walking tour this week takes us to the old fishing village of Watsons Bay. Easily reached by taking the ferry from Circular Quay, it is best known for the landmark restaurant Doyles, and just a few metres down the beach is the Watsons Bay Hotel, affectionately known ‘The Watto’.

Gorgeous pictures Kirribilli. Thanks for sharing. I love those old wooden houses. I haven't been to Watson's Bay since I was a child.

I too have not been there in years. I fished off the wharf when I was a child.

You have inspired me to take a bus to Watsons Bay next week and have a nice lunch in the winter sunshine in a restuarant there then have a nice stroll around the area.

Great pics of a pretty place. Still retains that village atmosphere even though it's in suburbia. One thing I find interesting about Watson's Bay is the large number of timber cottages. You don't see timber homes very often in Sydney, especially in the Eastern Suburbs.

I was surprised to see them and you would normally find them in inner city suburbs such as Balmain. I thought Watsons Bay only had big houses.

It's only just 15 minutes on the ferry from Circular Quay.

Nice to see some photos of Doyles, a proud dining institution for Sydney.
