Famous, unique or characteristical buildings in Los Angeles
Has Los Angeles characteristical buildings like Paris (Eiffel Tower) or London (Tower Bridge, Big Ben) or New York (Empire State Building).
Which building is unique for Los Angels and world famous? (Please excuse my bad english)

Well it's not exactly a building:

Griffith Observatory, City Hall, and Library Tower are the architectural foundation of the city.

Los Angeles has plenty of great architecture...but my answer to the first question is no, there isn't any "building" in LA which symbolizes the city the way the Eiffel Tower does Paris, etc. For Los Angeles the world-famous icon is not a building, but as klamedia posted - it's the Hollywood sign. Structurally or artistically speaking the sign is nothing impressive...but the impressions which it evokes symbolize LA for many people.

i think Disney Hall is slowly taking over as LA's Signature building, although the above mentioned examples are obviously all well know.

I don't think too many people are fimiliar with City Hall or Library Tower besides those specifically interested in architecture. The Chinese Theater is much more well known but I wouldn't really call it a masterpiece of architecture...there are a decent number of theaters in LA I hold in much higher regard. |

They show the dwntwn skyline on Entourage and TMZ on a regular basis. And that Library Tower with its rounded top really sticks out. I've also seen it exploited in more than one Will Smith movie. I think that folks are starting to associate that building with LA.
