The Great Blue Hole is a large underwater sinkhole off of the coast of Belize. It lies near the center of Lighthouse Reef, a small atoll 100 kilometres (62 mi) from the mainland and Belize City. The hole is circular in shape, over 300 metres (984 ft) across and 120 metres (394 ft) deep. It was formed as a limestone cave system during the last glacial period when sea levels were much lower. As the ocean began to rise again, the caves flooded, and the roof collapsed. It is part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System.

Casualmente había visto las imágenes del hoyo azul en un correo-e que recí sobre las cosas raras del planeta y aparece este sitio junto con otros muy interesantes, pero no sabía que estaba en Belice. Creo que en Belice hay muchas cosas que tiene gran belleza pero que no han sido difundidas y por tanto muchos no sabemos de sus maravillas naturales (que hay en cada rincón del planeta)

Aerolito o meteorito.

Es de la suposición que una roca chocó en ese sitio y produjo el hoyo.

Pero creo que en alguno de los posts se explica que los supuestos se centran en que el hoyo fue producto del proceso de descongelamiento.
