Lack of photo threads. Why?
How come there is no photo thread West Coast and Interior West here? I think what is lacking in all the American part of this forum is some dedicated photo section with major cities and major regions. Some (not all) regional section have photo threads, but I find it ridiculous that there is no anything major in terms of pictures about pretty big cities here.
I found almost next to nothing about New Orleans. There is no dedicated thread about San Diego. Arizona and new Mexico has very limited amount of pictures and etc. I think that some sort of work in this direction should be done by our moderators. I would brake into more regional sections, but if this is not possible then certainly make sure that each major city in USA has a dedicated collective photo thread in the corresponding section.

A randomness picture thread for this section seems appropriate since the other sections have them. If a member wants to start one up, go ahead, otherwise I'll make one.
As far as photo threads for particular cities, that is up to members. Metro areas that have a lot of representation on here are going to have various neighborhood photo tours, city photo threads, etc. The reality, though, is that not every city is going to have a big following on this site. Some cities have big followings on other development sites, and some cities have forums specifically about that city. Unfortunately, it's unrealistic to think that every metro is going to be jumping with members posting stuff. New Orleans is in the Southeast section, by the way. |

Most of the members for those regions can now be found on various other sites catering to a certain city or state like Ohio , LA , the Twin Cities. Alot of those sites were based off SSC but for a more detailed regional look. You can hope for those sites to die off , but that is unlikely. Keep in mind these are tiny sites , most of them have between 3000-5000 members. Some members have started coming back due to SSC's Gravitational pull...so there is some hope.

Maybe in general we should do what some European countries have - they have a dedicated section called Photo or something similar to this word and all cities or whole regions have all their pictures there. So in this way it will not be so complicated and spread out.

Most activity regarding the Western US tends to take place on Skyscraperpage not Skyscrapercity so there is generally more material covering the region on that website.
Anyways if you want to start a photo thread then feel free to do so.

Yes , even though Skyscraperpage is smaller it certainly has more activity in terms of regional projects and pictures then SSC at when it comes to North America.
