build tunnels using Tunnel-Boring-Machine might be feasible but the tunnels must be way way down underground as not to disturb infrastractures above edsa.

i still vote only to make edsa as a nonstop highway build separate bus stop terminals outside along edsa. Edsa should be free without tolls.

I dont know, maybe if we increase the MRT fee... buses will not stop for longer in every bus stop. If the MRT fee increases, commuters will opt to choose the bus because its cheaper. This would mean passengers will wait for buses which is the opposite that buses wait for passengers in the loading and unloading bays. Drivers and operators will have increased income and the MRT can be operated and managed accordingly due to less commuters.

Hi, i was browsing through my files and saw this old photo of EDSA. This is an early 90' picture of EDSA traffic congestion (AM peak hour southbound to Makati) without the MRT w/c was built 1997-2000.

Until today, even with the introduction of MRTs and numerous flyovers worth billion of pesos, we experience the same problem we were experiencing since 1990s. I think having an EDSA Skyway will just entice people to use private vehicles so it will just be a vicious cycle of congestion- building roads to accommodate more cars- people driving cars- congestion. If we build EDSA skyway, I think after 5-10 years, we will still have the same problems...

My suggestion: Why not spend the 50Billion on improving MRT, having better feeder bus service, improve interconnection between pubic transport modes and improve public transport terminals. Maybe hindi pa aabot ng 5Billion yan...

The problem with urban transport projects for Metro Manila is that engineers in DPWH and planners in DOTC (and executives of LGUs) are not coordinating on the matter. Coordination between these agencies should be the role of the MMDA but I think they are not technically capable to plan for Metro Manila. They must step backward, look at the problem at macro-level, holistically and comprehensively, i.e. analyze land use patterns, trip patterns, before coming up with a stupid press conference saying "we will build an EDSA Skyway worth 50Billion".

Looking at all this old photos, heres me wishing that they should have built MRT-3 / LRT-1NEP underground in the first place. Just asphalt overlay EDSA, put trees and other blooming plants on the middle and it would look alot better than it is now

Oh man, if EDSA was built in a very wide ROW a couple of decades back when Metro Manila was still not bursting at the seam, the planners from then must have anticipated a projected capacity it would handle a couple of decades later. But now, the ever-decreasing foresight of our generation's leaders and planners is already taking its toll.

I still remember how fun a car or bus ride along EDSA from Makati up to SM city North, even from Alabang. The drive was fast especially on off peak hours. EDSA looks so wide and open back then. It was always scary though when buses fly along EDSA because they all drive like maniacs, if you're in a small 4 door sedan, you can feel it roar as they all pass you...

nung isang araw napadaan ako sa edsa via MRT nakita ko wala na yung ibang billboard especially sa guadalupe well at least hindi masyadong eyesore yung mga billboard maliban na lang sa spaghetti wires
