Was soll ich sagen.

Schmidt Hammer Lassen's design for Simens Headquarter. You may view all these renderings in high resolution in this thread.
Description by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Located on the prominent and historical Wittelsbacherplatz in Munich, Siemens Campus is a visionary symbol of a 21st century global headquarter. Siemens Campus offers Munich a vibrant and new urban area with respect for the historical context. The architecture expresses a dynamic company culture of knowledge sharing, Corporate Social Identity and sustainability. Siemens Campus is transparent, inviting and inclusive and forms a natural part in the local context as both an analogy of an urban campus and a head office. The 46,000 m² building is arranged around a series of inner courtyards and contains the total representative facilities of the entire Siemens group. Apart from meeting and boardrooms, the building therefore includes such functions as a luxury hotel, a high standard restaurant as well as publicly accessible functions including a post office, a gallery and conference rooms on the lower floors. Open and flexible office spaces on the upper floors support knowledge sharing. The basement accommodates a fully automated car park with space for approx. 250 cars. The courtyard motif is inspired by the classical “Innenhöfe” of Munich. They open toward the adjacent neighbourhoods, the museum district and downtown Munich, and connect them by creating new ways of moving through the city. Thus woven into the historical urban structure, the building is a structural link between old and new, classical and modern. In the passage through the courtyards, special emphasis has been given to creating different spatial experiences. Modulation of daylight creates depth and accentuates a soft transition between indoors and outdoors. The prominent western facade towards Oskar von Miller Ring forms the main entrance to the building and opens symbolically as a large, welcoming gate. An integrated media facade along the Finkenstrasse acts as a communication platform for the global Siemens brand and leads into a varied and inspiring series of squares, courtyards and patios. The entire façade of the building is modulated over a grid, respecting the historical frame of reference and allowing for architectural variation, so that the facetted surface reflects the surroundings, vibrant and transparent. The green element is featured throughout the Siemens Campus as roof gardens and patios that create a pleasant environment on all floors. A broad range of sustainable initiatives are integrated in the design of the building. Rainwater collection and use along with a combination of hybrid and natural ventilation are substantial components of the overall sustainability strategy. Thanks for posting those alternative visualisations here
![]() I'm not sure I'd rather like to see this one built though. The winner of the competition is nothing truly outstanding, but imho definitely better than the Schmidt Hammer Lassen concept, which doesn't say "Siemens" in any breathe it takes.

Henning Larsen's winning design is a little mile better. I've never been to München and hardly know its city center, but to me the location of such a large (mainly) office headquarter seem a bit off, it just doesn't offer much of urban qualities needed in a historical downtown area.

Well, you're right about that. I'd prefer the complex to be a bit more outside the actual center, but in the end Siemens is trying to concentrate their offices there and continue to use the space they already have.
The good thing about the design that made it through the competition is its open concept, that allows public passages through the building. I'm not sure how this will work at night though, I hope it's not gonna be some dirty gathering place for bums and drunkards. You know what I'm talking about. Some social control achieved by a bar, restaurant, club or something would be good there. That could also add a lot of life to the complex.
