If you are looking for a cell phone provider, be sure you do NOT use Rogers. I used to work for a 3rd party content provider and Rogers partnered with them to screw their customers big time.

its always best to go with the local guys i find, as they tend to have competitive prices and have vastly superior service. and when it comes to cell phones, my recommendation is virgin mobile. the service is awesome, and of course super tab helps

I have an awesome corporate plan with Rogers, only sucky part is data plan where there is little price difference between 500mB and 1 GB/month

I used to sell phones so I'd like to think I'm a good point of contact for this. In terms of best options for long term, take the contract. If it's a quick fix, Koodo is definitely the way to go on their tab.
Best plan for the city is City Fido's Unlimited 35. Basically unlimited everything within the city for 35 bucks a month and billing by the second, it's great. If you want a phone that will work basically anywhere in the world no problem, choose Rogers. However if you're going to be in basements for a while, choose Telus. And finally if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, Bell will have your back.

Two? I just don't get the point in having a home phone when you can take a mobile anywhere. I dumped my home phone permanently in the early 90s.

I RARELY use my cellphone, though. Costs me exactly 20 bucks a month, total. I don't mind the 40 bucks or whatever it is for the landline, but am tempted to jump to the 17 dollar Comwave package.

These days you can basically have international calling on your mobile for next to nothing, which is definitely pushing out landlines. It'll either be something that they want to keep and lower the prices, or realise it's time is done and push onwards to mobile only. I can't see Bell doing that anytime soo though. Our network overall needs to be improved to meet those demands as well. And I'm not talking United States improved, once we're at par with Japan we could go landline free no problem.
