Agree! Ako I've been thinking about a small dam, para magkaron tayo ng reservoir, so that meron tayong lake of some sort (since wala man tayong beach). Magiging katulad sya ng Villa Escudero sa Quezon kung saan pwede rin magrafting at kung ano-ano pang recreational activities ang mga tao. Tapos it will also prevent the Badjao-Angeleños from coming back to the riverbed.

Another idea is one similar to Seoul's Chong Gye Cheon

that's what i have also in mind.they could emulate iloilo's riverside scene or maybe mas maganda pa.OR since the angeles-magalang road is somewhat congested they can make an alternative thoroughfare to marquee area along the river that (on my wishful thinking again) will hopefully be an alternative route from NLEX up to Clark in the future using the river alignment.downtown angeles and uptown balibago can be connected.

the closest we have to La Salle here are La Salle-supervised schools. I forgot which.

back then, nasabi sa akin ng isang insider sa Lakeshore Mexico na nagpapatayo sila ng UST campus doon. pero parang di na matutuloy?

UP Extension Program in Pampanga - oh well, dreams of it being an autonomous UP Central Luzon has always been a struggle. the student council (during my time, 2003 onwards) is fighting for autonomy. former director Juliet Mallari was fighting for a development of a University Town around UP Clark... but students don't want autonomy, because graduates of UP Clark actually have UP Diliman in their diplomas, since UP Clark is technically "UP Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga"

Ateneo branched out in Clark years ago... Ateneo De Clark or Ateneo De Pampanga. But it's a business graduate school.

i heard news that FEU wants to invest in GGLC grounds.

tsk tsk tsk. this is definitely bad news:

2 towns now below sea level
By Herbert P. Mapiles

Thursday, November 17, 2011

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The elevation of two towns in the fourth district – Masantol and Macabebe – has reached below sea level due to the excessive use or extraction of groundwater.

This was disclosed during a water summit, which was attended by Governor Lilia Pineda, local chief executives, provincial officials, and representatives of various sectors, held in this city.

With this, Pineda has warned the public against the excessive use or extraction of deep wells and groundwater, which contribute to the sinking of the land.

Pampanga is reportedly showing signs of over-extraction of groundwater sources, she said.

Pineda also enjoined all water utilities in the province to support the proposed integrated water resource management regarding the use of surface in lieu of groundwater.

The Provincial Government also initiated efforts to address pressing concerns related to the water situation of Pampanga.

It was also disclosed that almost all of Pampanga’s water supply comes from groundwater sources.

Based on ongoing studies, as explained by officials of the Provincial Government, it is estimated that by 2025, 12 out of 22 municipalities and two cities in Pampanga may be at risk of groundwater shortage.

The effects of groundwater over-extraction include deterioration of water quality, land subsidence, drying up of wells, increased pumping cost, adverse environmental effects and reduction in surface water.

As this developed, the governor is eying surface water as best alternative to groundwater, following reports that almost 90 percent of Pampanga’s surface water is unutilized.

un UP CLARK mtgal na plan iconvert pero up to now nothng happens problema d2 is funding mejo mlaki pera needed.

about sa FEU IN GLCC CLARK and UST IN LAKESHORE MEXICO now ko lang nalaman yan reliable ba source mo?
minsan ksi ang mga malakihan real state like lakeshore one way of marketing strategy nila is un pagpapakalat ng pagpapatayo ng school or mall inside pogi points nga naman yan para maengganyo ang buyer bumili sa property nila.

SM malls open X’mas season
By Joey Pavia
Nov 15, 2011

Good cheers! Giant toys showcase at SM City Clark is opened by Mabalacat Mayor Boking Morales, Angeles Vice-Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Tourism Director Ronnie Tiotuico and SM Manager Anna Datu.
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The 43 SM super malls in the country simultaneously held their Christmas launch on Saturday, unveiling different themes and designs to provide the Yuletide spirit this early.
Jauncho Sibal, SMs assistant vice president for operation North Luzon, disclosed that the Sy-owned malls launched their respective Christmas showcase and décor for their growing customers all over the country.
We want all to enjoy Christmas at SM not just to shop and dine but to be with their families, said Sibal, who graced both the launching at SM Pampanga here and SM City Clark in Angeles City.
We want families to truly enjoy, especially the kids. SM is for them. We welcome everyone at SM, he added.
Ana Datu, SM Clarks assistant mall manager, said their Giant Toyland is a theme for the eyes, heart and soul.
We have submitted our own design and theme and each mall cannot duplicate one anothers decor, she added.
In SM Pampanga, Assistant Mall Manager Lana Erroba and Mexico Mayor Teddy Tumang led the launch of the Christmas Around the World more than an hour before the event at SM Clark.
Sibal also announced that SM Olongapo City in Zambales will open before the year ends.
He added that the opening of the SM San Fernando, which is about four kilometers away from SM Pampanga, will be moved to a later date. It was supposedly set to open on November 25.
In the same events, fireworks displays were held shortly after the Christmas launches.

SM Pampanga, Clark light-up grand Christmas centerpieces

| More |

Sunday, November 13, 2011

ANGELES CITY -- SM City Pampanga and SM City Clark joined various SM Supermalls all over the country in the grand unveiling and lighting of their Christmas centerpieces highlighting their yuletide theme this year dubbed “It’s Christmas.”

At SM City Pampanga, officials led by Mayor Teddy Tumang of Mexico and Mayor Arturo Naguit of Minalin, Pampanga Provincial Police Director Edgardo Tinio and SM City Pampanga mall manager Lana Erroba led the unveiling of their “Christmas Around the World” centerpiece.

Share your thoughts on Pacquiao-Marquez III

The centerpiece features the Eiffel Tower of France, the Big Ben of London, the Red Square in Russia, the Statue of Liberty in New York, the Windmills of Netherlands and the Gondola of Venice.

Erroba said the event aims to give mallgoers a different Christmas experience when visiting the mall, adding that SM aims to create a unique Christmas experience for young mall goers.

“As we dedicate this season to children, and to family, we invite everyone to help make children feel the spirit and understand the true meaning of Christmas and help make it last forever,” Erroba said.

The event also featured the gift-giving done by SM City Pampanga for the children with disabilities of Camp Olivas.

Meanwhile, SM City Clark unveiled their “Giant Toy Land” with Mayor Marino Boking of Mabalacat, Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting and mall manager Ana Datu.

The centerpiece features the most recognizable toys associated with Christmas in a landscape of snow.

SM Clark public relations officer Venus Manalang said the attraction brings about fond memories of Christmas and would surely delight both the children and the young at heart.

“The centerpiece invites people to go back to their childhood memories of Christmas and relive the magic of those experiences,” Manalang said.

Spectators also had the chance to meet and greet with Santa Claus with Christmas candies distributed after the program.

Both unveilings ended with the grand fireworks displays. (Ian Ocampo Flora)

ang bagong award ng SAN FERNANDO international ito bronze "Most livable community" grabe elite nakalaban niya trillion city cila samantala 1billion city palang ang san fernando

Mayor: City will continue to aim high

| More |

By Jovi T. De Leon

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Mayor Oscar Rodriguez said Monday that the City Government will “continue to aim high and go for the best” for the sake of Fernandinos and Kapampangans.

Rodriguez shared Monday his experience in the recently concluded World’s Most Livable Cities of 2011 held in Songpa, South Korea. The event is a UN-backed annual International Awards for Livable Communities (LivCom), where the City of San Fernando was a bronze awardee.

Share your thoughts on Pacquiao-Marquez III

“The mere fact that we made it to list of top 16 finalists is already an honor. The ‘whole city’ bronze award is good but is not enough because we have always aimed high and hoped for the best for Fernandinos and Kapampangans,” he told Sun.Star Pampanga.

Rodriguez narrated that it was a tough selection process where the City of San Fernando was categorized with bigger and wealthier cities.

“We were in category E -- the biggest group with 14 -- where the finalists are of the old civilization and with trillions in resources. Just imagine that. Still, kahit maliit lang tayo ay naipakita natin ang ating kakayahan. The bronze award was for a whole city, a separate distinction from the per project with foreign grants award like the one awarded to Iloilo City or the special award given to San Carlos City in the smaller Category C where there were only four finalists,” he said with a smile.

Aside from the special awards of Iloilo and San Carlos, Batangas City was also cited for its socio-economic projects.

The finalists are divided into five categories according to their average daytime population. There were also winners in categories covering specific projects, as well as a £10,000 bursary awarded to one community project each year.

The elite group of cities that fulfilled the awards’ range of key criteria covering environmental best practice, healthy lifestyle of citizens, community involvement as well as arts and cultural heritage, include Nieuwpoort (Belgium) Nanjing (China), Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm (Germany ), Bavaria, Songpa and Tongyeong (South Korea), and Joondalup in Western Australia.

“For the next LivCom awards, we will look deeply into the criteria and probably include our best practices like those in education and Ledac [Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council],” Rodriguez said.

The LivCom awards annually bring together some of the world’s leading innovators in the field.
