Very lucky escape for Ireland!!

Armenia were seriously impressive and play a beautiful style of football. Their one drawback is a complete inability play play long or high balls which leaves them very exposed. Apart from that, they are an excellent tem....the surprise of the competition! If I ran a football club in Ireland or the UK I would be having a serious look at some of their players!

The draw on Thursday will be interesting!! Aparently we might be seeded, but even still it will be an uphill struggle. Draws are no longer sufficent!

Bad luck to NI. Personally, I think Worthington should have gone a long time ago. I see Magilton and Michael O'Neill are in the frame!!

Felt sorry for Armenia. I would not describe the hand ball incident as as bad as Henry's (because it was not intentional) but it is rough all the same. They have an excellent young side for the future.

We will have to face Estonia over two legs in the playoff. Worried? Nah.

Major coup drawing Estonia! An excellent result for them, but, definately the weakest team ever to reach the knockout stage!

As long as we don't approach the match to cockily I think we should get there

I fear for Estonia in Dublin. :o Main thing is the tie is over so should be a relaxing night of celebration on Tuesday Unless some earth shattering event occurs...

I did start to feel sorry for Estonia towards the end, but I'm delighted for Ireland. We'll finally be going to another finals!

Brilliant!! Well done to all the lads

Did feel very sorry for Estonia though. The sending offs were a little harsh and they played fairly well.

But, fair play to Ireland. Really took the bull by the horns. One foot in the Euros now. I just wish I was still going out with my Polish EX-GF.......for the free accommodation if nothing else!:P

10 games on the run for ROI - 1 goal conceded. Says it all. What a record!

Looking forward to a bit of this from McGeady at the Euros

Class player.

Looks like a decent number of Irish fans made the trip. Anyone know how many were there?

Many more then were able to fit into the stadium. AFAIK alot of them had no tickets - just went on the chance of getting some tickets over there.

Congratulations Ireland!!! I am happy that you return in a Eurocup.

I am convinced that you could do a better work in the group stage no matter which teams you will face on.

Congratulations again, Trappatoni is a great trainner, maybe is conservative in the game but He has all the experience in the world.

Good luck, best wishes next summer.

Greetings from Mexico.

Thanks very much Silverhawk! Yeah we are delighted. Funnily enough the game was a bit of an anti climax because the tie was effectively over before kickoff. The players demeanour on the pitch suggested they were not really too bothered with the second leg nor were they too interested in giving a hiding to the opposition. But fair play to Estonia for getting some pride with such an obliterated squad. Their time will come again. It was a night of celebration really.

The greatest goal ever scored in a European Championship. Ronnie Whelan - 1988

(a bit of yapping but it shows the goal from a Mick McCarthy throw in no less)
