New to SC4

After reading on here and seeing all the great cities you guys make, i've decided to pick myself a copy of Sim City 4 up. I've never played a sim city before, is it similar to the Rollercoaster Tycoon games ? Also, are there any sites i should be told about which can help with resources to add to the game ?

It's not terribly similar by any means to Roller Coaster Tycoon games, other than the fact that it's a simulation. Sites like Simtropolis and SC4Devotion should be a big help to getting familiar with the game.
