Have you forgotten the Chicago Spires in Chicago? It was supposed to be 2000 ft tall and it is on hold right now due to economy. There's a big hole in the ground right now.

Yeah I think Chicago has even more of a chance than NYC at getting a world's tallest, seeing as they currently have the country's tallest.

3,000 ft tower in Miami! Wow didn't see that coming! Miami may not be a great city but why not? If they wants to build it, go for it. Do we have thread for this tower? I can't find it anywhere on this website.

No I didn't forget about it. I don't think it will get built any time soon. It's been a giant hole for a long time and based on what i'v seen on the forums, people really don't like the design or just the general idea. Personally I think it's just some crazy idea that's better suited for Dubai, but that's just me.

No because it will never even get considered. Can you picture Miami getting the tallest building in the world? I really can't see it even getting one of the US's tallest. Based on what i'v seen I doubt the US will get the world's tallest anytime soon if ever. Why? Let's take a look. The US's current tallest real proposal(not some fantasy proposal that will never get approved) is the Chicago Spire, it's 2000 FT tall. I have some doubts that it will get built any time soon but it's still a real proposal that I could see getting built one day. You think 2000 FT is tall? Not compared to what Dubai and other foreign cities are planning.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai_City_Tower

I honestly could see this really getting built but i'm not saying it will. But it's Dubai, they've done it once they can do it again. Dubai's proposals and approved buildings are so beyond anything the US has come up with it's shocking. It might be the economy but you can see that Dubai is capable of building what seems impossible. My point is, the US has very restricted height and building limits. So many foreign cities don't. You can build anything you want in Dubai and we all saw an example of that with the "Burj Khalifa".

Like I said, I didn't see that coming. It would be nice to have world's tallest building back in USA again like old days some day. If Miami or any US cities can build it, why not? I am aware with Chicago Spire situation, it is still 50/50 chance to get built but we supposed to find out if it will going to get built soon when the developer get this whole financing situation work out. 2,000 feet tall is still tall for many people. USA doesn't have 2,000 feet tower yet (radio tower in North Dakota isn't counted!). What I understand that USA still can get taller tower like 3,000+ feet as long the developer get the permission from FAA. We possibly won't see a new world's tallest building in USA for another decade or so unless someone came up with plans and have funds for it. Dubai can build whatever they wants to. Dubai is known as the architects' playgrounds with their most crazy and exciting designs.

There's some point at which they just won't be able to build any higher... At 7500ft tall, Dubai City Tower is pure fantasy.

I would hate Miami to get the US's tallest building. I would like the US to get the crown back for the world's tallest building but Miami shouldn't get it before Chicago and NYC. Miami is just an overrated city.

It might seem like fantasy and i'm not saying it's going to get build tomorrow but remember, that's what some people said about the
"Burj Khalifa". Where is the world's tallest building? Where is the worlds largest man made island? Which city is planning the to have the largest indoor mountain range in the world? My point is with Dubai nothing is fantasy, the structures that are impossible anywhere else in the country our possible in Dubai. So I wouldn't say anything is out of Dubai's reach.

Those projects existed only due to massive subsidies, a real estate bubble, and extremely low wages coinciding. The first two are defunct and won't come back anytime soon.

As for Miami, of course it's total fantasy for a whole bunch of reasons that are frequently covered here, and that I don't plan to go over for the hundredth time right now.

If Miami were able to pull it off then more power to them.

I agree that Miami is overrated city. Sometime I think Miami is too much. Chicago and New York City have built many world's tallest buildings in the past. It would be nice to have other ones to get built somewhere in USA than just Chicago or New York City.
