This is a national project, not just regional. Hence there are readers that do not speak Cebuano.

Busa I suggest that Laguindingan_CDO International Airport, patsada kaayo paminawon dinhi sa abroad dili na kinahanglan nga mag google pa kay popular na ang laguindingan sa global name. thanks

DoTC projects to focus on Mindanao
By: Paolo G. Montecillo
Philippine Daily Inquirer
2:25 am | Monday, December 12th, 2011

He noted that one of the key infrastructure projects under the program was the construction of the Laguindingan airport, which was expected to support agricultural development in Mindanao.

“It will serve as the main airport of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities in northern Mindanao, and a counterpart of the Davao International Airport in Southern Mindanao,” he said.

The Laguindingan airport is expected to help boost Mindanao’s potential as a national food basket, as well as a producer of the country’s major agricultural exports such as banana and coconut.

Laguindingan airport project gets funding from EU program
http://www.businessweekmindanao.com/...om-eu-program/

THE Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC)

has included the soon to be completed Laguindingan International Airport as among the projects that are aligned with the European Commission’s program with P500-billion capital expenditure in the next five years.

“The European Commission has several projects on health, agriculture, environment, forestry, and support for the peace process in Mindanao,” he told members of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and Joint Foreign Chambers.
The DOTC leads the government’s charge to pump-prime the economy with major projects to modernize the transport system in a bid to raise rural incomes, literacy levels and improve health conditions in the countryside.

Roxas added that the government is now mapping a port program for Mindanao that will result in lower shipping rates from Mindanao to where the market is in Manila.

It's a bit worrisome to depend on a broke Euro union to fund the airport. This tells me that the money is not readily available, hence the delay of opening from 2012 to 2013.

The fund is for the navigational facilities. The government actually has money but does not want to spend it in Mindanao...

Ayala bags 1st PPP road project
http://business.inquirer.net/35169/a...l-road-project
P2B Daang Hari-SLEx link
By: Doris C. Dumlao, Philip C. Tubeza
Philippine Daily Inquirer
12:30 am | Friday, December 16th, 2011

The Ayala group has bagged the P2-billion Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway link road, the very first infrastructure-building project auctioned by the Aquino administration under the much-awaited public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
After this project, conglomerate Ayala Corp. will study whether to bid for two other toll road projects in the government’s PPP pipeline—the NAIA Expressway and the North Luzon Expressway-South Luzon Expressway connector projects, according to Ayala Corp. managing director Eric Francia.
Through property unit Ayala Land Inc., the conglomerate is also interested in the privatization of the operation and maintenance of the Laguindingan Airport in Cagayan de Oro, Francia said.

Ayala firms up road foray

AYALA CORP. outbid a San Miguel Corp.-led consortium for the contract to build, operate and maintain the 4-kilometer Daang Hari-South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) Link Road, with just a final evaluation left to hurdle before the first public-private partnership (PPP) project under the current government is awarded, officials said on Thursday.

The country’s oldest conglomerate, whose core business lies in real estate, banking and telecommunications, is thus poised to firm up its foray into road infrastructure along with its venture into power generation.

.......

Ayala is also looking at other toll roads in the government’s PPP list, he added, such as the P10.6-billion Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway and the North Luzon Expressway-SLEx Connector Road, for which Metro Pacific Investments Corp. has submitted a P21-billion unsolicited bid, that could be rolled out in the first quarter of 2012.

Moreover, Ayala Land is eyeing a bid for the Laguindingan Airport O&M deal, Mr. Francia said.

......

Ayala Corp. shares closed 1.43% or P4.20 higher at P297 apiece yesterday, while those of San Miguel closed 0.678% or P0.80 higher at P118.80 per share. -- K. A. Martin with Reuters
