IRM (bedoeld voor Interregionaal vervoer, sneltreindiensten dus :P) zit namelijk ook planmatig in intercity diensten, en ICM rijdt ook sneltreindiensten (sporadisch stoptreindiensten).

Sneltreinen kunnen wel met stoptreinmaterieel worden gereden en IC's niet, dit is volgens mij het enige verschil.
