So i discovered Juffair is called that, because its the name of the naval base established by the british in 1935, which was later leased by the americans from the British in 1950, and then officially taken over with an agreement and permission from the independent government of Bahrain in 1971..

So here are some old pics i found from 1970, the HMS Jufair..

RAF Muharraq, in 1966, seems Muharraq was a major transit route, and this aircraft was on delivery to Riyadh for the Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF).

This, RAF Muharraq again, but in 1949 (This British airbase is what later became our Bahrain International Airport i believe, or is the site immediately adjacent to it)

i miss old Bahrain.
I hate to say it but especially Manama and Muharraq got uglier

those Black and White pictures are really very cool, they give a nice atmosphere to the eastern architecture there
