Portsmouth and Spinaker Tower
These are some pictures i took of portsmouth a few months ago, the day after the tower opened. Portsmouth is the largest naval base in Europe and home to the royal navy. Portsmouth has had a bad reputation like all british cities, but there is alot of beauty there and development.
This is Guildhall square, and acts as a center for the city ![]() ![]() ![]() just down the road there is Theater royal ![]() ![]() Some nice buildings on the way to the sea ![]() ![]() The museum ![]() ![]() ![]() Old portsmouth The Cathedral ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Entrance to the harbour ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ferry terminal ![]() Old bombed church (a king got married here) ![]() Architecture on the sea front ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Victoria park and surrounding buildings ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The Admiralty ![]() The hard and HMS Warrior ![]() Spinnaker Tower seen from the Hard ![]() Gunwarf Quays (shopping and entertainment complex) ![]() Spinnaker tower ![]() Scarry but fun ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice pics. You can see my old office in the first one! The city museum used to be an artillery barracks (Clarence Barracks). Guildhall square is particularly pleasant when the band of the Royal Marines uses it for practice

Great city!
I hope the football team survive relegation - especially as I'm rooting for Blues & the Baggies to go down! |
