NARVA | Kreenholm Area Development | Kreenholmi Arendus | App

Kreenholm area development is large scale redevelopment project of old industrial area on Kreenholm island & surrounding Narva riverside area. Area has huge historic Kreenholm Manufacture complex, which dates back to 1870s and in early 1900s used to be the largest textile factory in Europe. Obviously, the factory buildings are under heritage protection and will get minor facelift, but in addition to that several new buildings are planned to be built on island and riverside - hotel, spa, apartment & commercial buildings. Most of them have maximum height of 5-storeys,but on Southern side are planned 4 x 20-storey buildings - 3 of them would be apartment buildings and 1 will be office building. Some rumour suggest that state has booked 10% of project area - most likely for new police academy.
In addition,Eastern side of Kreenholm island will get pedestrian bridge & border checkpoint (because of neighbouring Russia )

Basically, you could say that Kreenholm project is entire new city district in Narva.

Accurate size should be somewhere between 303000m² and 309000m²,but I didn't bother to check it up.

This is very exciting project,as Kreenholm along with beach area project promise to turn Narva into "normal" city. No offence to locals, but right now Narva is a total hell-hole. Only few industrial & mining towns in Ida-Virumaa are worse.

Would be nice to see Narva to rise again, hopefully this project will help the city get back on it's feet. I'm going to be optimistic till the end though, and hope that some day we'll be rich enough to restore the old town.

By the time we're rich enough, the current "new town" WILL BE the "old town"
... that will still obviously require extensive restoration.

Or Sweden conquer Narva and rebuild it like they did in 17th century ;D They even had a plan to make it second capital city of empire. ;D

This is absolutely fantastic! I'm boggled by the fact it's planned for Narva. I've only seen a "mini-new-Venice" like this in some of this forum's Copenhagen pictures.

I wonder if there's enough wealth in Narva to make an investment of this scale worthwhile.

They are targeting high-middle class/rich Russians who want to live and raise their children in the EU.
