Shahar Peer at the French Open
Israeli teenager Shahar Peer has advanced to the top 16 by beating #6 seed Elena Dementieva. This the farthest that Peer has advanced to in a Grand Slam event. Peer is on a hot streak by winning 2 titles in 2006 (Thailand, Istanbul Cup), and has jumped in the rankings to number 26 in the world.
