Urban planning + design uni applications

Hello skyscrapercity!
This will be my first post and thread on the forums, haha. Anyways. I'm looking forward to applying to MIT for their UP+D program in 2014. I have a few questions for all of you.
1. Should I apply for an undergradarchitecture before applying for urban planning, or should I go direct into their UP undergrad program?
2. If I should apply directly into their UP undergrad program is it required that I prepare some sort of portfolio to the application board?
3. If I should prepare a portfolio, what should be included in it?
Regards and thanks,
Bwong

To admins, regrettably this is my first post and it may have been posted in the wrong place, if so, I apologize wholeheartedly and would request that you kindly move it to the right place. Thank you!
