As part of its vision to develop Indore as Information and Technology (IT) hub, the State Government has decided to make available 100 acre of land in the city for developing IT facilities.

According to an official of the Indore Development Authority (IDA), the State Government has completed all formalities but the actual plot is yet to be identified.

In January this year, a team from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had visited Indore to inquire about the infrastructure facilities in the city. Following the visit, the State Government had decided to make available 100 acre land, for which TCS has emerged as front-runner in the city’s ‘super corridor’.

The Madhya Pradesh Government is looking at developing Indore as the next destination for IT with a view to attract investment and generate employment. The Government has invited major IT companies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro in this regard.

State Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently identified corridors in the city where the State Government plan to allocate land to IT firms.

The State Government has also discussed the issue of setting up IT facility with Infosys and the company has expressed willingness to do so, the official said. The Government will also contact Wipro in this regard.

According to the Government officials, besides the three leading IT companies, the State is also trying to bring the medium-level IT companies. The State Government will organise a road show in Hyderabad in the last week of December.

Notably, the Chief Minister announced on Friday while inspecting the super-corridor in Indore that the city will be developed into an IT hub on the lines of Bangalore.

He also promised every necessary facility would be provided to the companies coming to Indore.

The CM inspected the sites where land is to be allotted to the IT companies coming to the city. During the inspection, he said besides TCS and Infosys, Wipro is also coming and talks with the IT major are on.

MP to set up 27 new industrial estates by 2017
They would be developed in Bhopal, Vidisha, Indore, Khandwa, Dhar, Jhabua, Jabalpur, Katni, Dewas, Ujjain, Neemach. Gwalior and Morena districts
The State Cabinet here on Tuesday took several important decisions to bring about industrial revolution in the State. One of the major decisions is endorsement of the proposal to grant Government guarantee to HUDCO so that TRIFAC can avail Rs 900 crore loan from it for acquiring land for establishment of new industrial estates in the State, development of necessary infrastructure for major industrial estates and DMIC Project.
The Cabinet decided that the State Government will give guarantee against loans to be obtained from HUDCO and other fiscal institutions by all the Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigams for developing industrial estates.
It was informed that conducive atmosphere has been created in the State for industrial investment in the wake of constant campaigns undertaken by the State Government. The process of allotment of lands in industrial estates has also gathered momentum during the last four years. No plot of land is now available at major industrial estates of the State including Mandideep, Pithampur, Dewas, Malanpur, Borgaon etc.
Besides, a number of pioneer industrial houses are demanding developed land. Keeping this situation in view, it was decided that industrial estates will be developed on 7675 hectares of land at 27 places in a phased manner during the next six years.
These new industrial estates are Acharpura, Govindpura, Bagroda, Peepalner (all Bhopal), Jambad Bagri (Vidisha), Mandideep Phase-3, mega industrial park Biaora-Chachoda, Tamot Beelkheri (Raisen), Crystal IT Park (Indore), Bhavsingpura (Khandwa), Ujjaini (Dhar), Meghnagar (Jhabua), Bhurkal Khapa (Seoni), industrial estate Umaria-Dungariya (Jabalpur), mineral SEZ and industrial estate Hargarh-Sihora (Jabalpur), food park Amkuhi (Katni), Sirsoda (Dewas), Nazarpur (Ujjain), Morwan (Neemuch), Nemawar (Dewas), Pahadi (Morena), readymade garment park Gadaipura (Gwalior), industrial estate Gurh (Rewa), Bagaha (Satna), Bargawan (Singrauli) and industrial estate Maihar (Satna).
Under the plan, projects of nine new industrial estates have been chalked out, which will be developed on 761 hectares of land at a cost of Rs255 crore. For this, the concerning Audyogik Kendra Vikas Nigams (AKVNs) have been given permission to avail loans worth Rs128 crore from financial institutions.
The cabinet also decided to develop necessary infrastructure in the major industrial estates of the State. As many as 5,217 industrial units exist in 43 industrial estates of AKVN and 185 industrial estates of Industries Department. A proposal was endorsed for securing Rs 190 crore loans from financial institutions for upgradation and development of requisite infrastructure in these industrial estates in a phased manner during the next three years.
The Cabinet endorsed the policy for filling trenches of closed mines with solid waste. It was decided that public participation should be invited in levelling of land by solid waste and plantation thereon from environmental point of view, in the case of mines the condition of mine closure plan was not signed with the mine leaseholder at the time of sanctioning the lease.

^ India already have largest numbers of SEZs in the world and there are no takers. Even reliance etc. leaving them in midway.

And even after so many SEZs we are not a manufacturing nation as per GDP contribution .

The point is that all of these are tricks to grab land and sell it for the residential projects to builders, its a nexus and recipe of corruption.

To an extent this is correct. But this is true only if the land is near a growth center like a metro. The flip side is many industries even in big cities struggle for space and infrastructure like connectivity roads and power so these alternatives are required ...

"The Centre has given in-principle approval for preparing DPR of Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail services," the Minister told reporters.
BHOPAL: The Centre has given in-principle approval for preparing the detailed project report (DPR) to introduce Metro Rail services in Bhopal and Indore, Madhya Pradesh urban administration and development minister Babulal Gaur said here today.

"The Centre has given in-principle approval for preparing DPR of Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail services," the Minister told reporters.

Gaur said the DPR would be prepared in next six-seven months and the Centre and the state will bear its cost in the ratio of 50:50.

The urban administration department will float a tender to select a company for preparing the DPR for the two cities, he said.

The length of the Metro Rail track in Bhopal is 28.5 km and for Indore it will be about 33 km.

The estimated cost for implementing the Metro Rail project is around Rs 6,000 crore in Bhopal and about Rs 7,500 crore in Indore, the minister said, adding that the feasibility survey for the two projects was done by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC) Limited.

The Centre has also praised the Narmada Purification Scheme of the state government and asked to send DPR of this project also, Gaur said.

"Union Minister of Environment and Forest Jayanthi Natarajan in a letter praised the Narmada river purification scheme and asked the state to send a DPR of the project under National River Conservation Scheme," he added.
